Rangers signed Carlos Peguero to a minor league deal. He hit .266 w/ 30 HR's last year for the Royals AAA affiliate. I remember him as a Mariner. Big ol boy.

We also signed Guilder back. Good for him.

hard to get excited about these really minor moves. come on ST

Nick Williams is Evan Grant's #6 prospect.

No. 6 Texas Rangers prospect has all the tools, needs the refinement | Dallas Morning News

Our No. 6 prospect has all the talent in the world to be a great hitter with other assets, too. But his big challenge for 2015 is to mold those raw talents into baseball skills. This year is about refinement.

There may be no player in our Rangers’ 15 for ’15 list with more drool-inducing tools than outfielder Nick Williams.
Also, there may be no player who presents more risk-reward potential.
Put it this way, in Baseball America’s summation of Williams the magazine mentioned Colorado’s Carlos Gonzalez as one comp and mega-bust Felix Pie as another.

Latest On Evan Gattis Trade Talks

By Jeff Todd [January 14, 2015 at 4:57pm CST]

4:57pm: The deal is not only not complete, but includes one or more players who have yet to be reported, a source tells Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle (via Twitter).

3:38pm: If a snag occurs, the Rangers are next in line to strike a deal for Gattis, Bowman tweets.

2:03pm: The deal is not yet complete, caution Sherman (via Twitter) and MLB.com’s Mark Bowman (via Twitter), with the former saying the terms are settled upon pending physical and the latter warning there is still a chance that Gattis could be moved to another club.

See yah later Escobar, sent to Nationals for Clippard

Saw that they were discussing that deal earlier, didn't take long for Escobar to bounce from the AL West.

Are the Rangers in on Max Scherzer?

Even if the Rangers wanted to spend the type of money it would cost to get Scherzer and were willing to risk a long term big money deal on a pitcher they probably wouldn't be able to land him. They have never landed that kind of a pitcher in the history of the franchise in an open market free agency setting.

5:18pm: Drellich also adds that the biggest concerns heading into Gattis’ physical are his back and right knee, and the concern is fairly significant. While Drellich’s previous report that we may not yet know the identity of all players in the deal created a wide range of speculation, he now adds that B.J. Upton is not in the deal. Astros righty Vincent Velasquez was discussed, however Drellich notes that Velasquez has his own health issues
