My thoughts exactly, both on how much exactly he would help and how we'd better not be giving up anything of significant value to get him. He's a very up and down pitcher with not a ton of upside. If he costs us any real legitimate prospects, I'd rather just roll with Tepesch.

Agreed. I see more upside in Tepesch with his 1.34 GB/FB ratio and keep our prospects.

What's your guess?

Don't have one yet. Leaning towards something from the Padres, but with Preller being so wary of his mentor I'm not sure anything will get done there.

Gee may be a fill in till Perez gets back. Just a guess but like you say Tep can do the same.

I'm still on the Medlen/Beachy bandwagon, especially Medlen. He and Martin Perez would be two very nice mid-late season gifts for the rotation.

Not really a fan of Gee either, much better off with Martinez or Tep.

However, I do like the idea of dealing for the Rockies Willin Rosario if we can acquire him for something reasonable.

Rosario has some extreme home away splits though. Just something to be aware of when acquiring him.

Sounds like JD has given up on a power hitting COF in lieu of pitching due to high demand in return.

That's what a lot of people on here wanted. Another starter, let the youngsters (whoever wins out) play LF, and hold onto our top prospects.

@JonHeymanCBS: rangers dont seem enamored of mets' older starters. mets will likely have to look elsewhere to trade gee, niese or colon

Gee, as in golly!

@Ken_Rosenthal: Per @JeffPassan, Lester’s deal with #Cubs is for six years, $155M.

Scherzer is going to want more.

The White Sox made the first big moves at the winter meetings late on Monday night. Not only did they sign closer David Robertson to a four-year, $46 million deal, but they also acquired starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija and once-heralded pitching prospect Michael Ynoa from the Athletics as part of a six-player deal whose return is headlined by infielder Marcus Semien. Taken in conjunction with Chicago's previous additions of first baseman Adam LaRoche and lefty reliever Zach Duke via free agency, the moves represent an aggressive attempt to improve a team that went 73-89 and finished in fourth place the AL Central in 2014.
