He played in 148 games in 2014

And he's also been somewhat babied since he's been here with some sort of hamstring or quad malady every year, he's getting up there in years and its just a matter of time before those muscles fully give out even if he is being babied, next year could be the year

Yes, he did. If he has 29 less PAs in 2015 than he had in 2014 then his contract doesn't vest. So if he goes on the DL again like last year and has to miss an additional week or a little more then he might not vest. Or if he has a couple additional nagging injuries that forces him to sit 4 games each then it doesn't vest. If is definitely a possibility given his age. Should we not be in the race in July it would be ideal to trade him for something significant and then re-sign him about 11 months from now.

do you spend your days trying find loopholes? i doubt the Rangers are as concerned about it as you are as they see Adrian as a plus factor.

We have no idea how they will view him in the middle of the 2015 season. There are a lot of factors involved including the development of some of our younger players. Beltre's play in 2015 may cause the Rangers not to want to pay him $16 million in 2016.

What you view as loopholes are actually important facts in determining what could happen.

Baseball teams trade very popular guys when they need to. We once let Pudge walk and he was the most popular ever. Even had Hamilton not fell out of favor they were not going to re-sign him and at one time he was one of if not the most popular player here. Ian was very popular and they traded him. Elvis is very popular with a lot of fans and they could very well trade him. As a fan I would have nothing wrong with Beltre being traded if it helped us, especially if they could bring him back afterwards. I was a very big fan of Hershel Walker, but I completely understood the Cowboys trading him. Things like that happen sometimes and management can't worry about it.

No, I didn't think you were disrespectful at all.

When we let Pudge go that just ticked me off. One of the more idiotic things the Rangers have ever done.

Let's just throw a bucket of money at Lester and not lose any prospects and slot him in there with Darvish and Holland. HA! Sounds good but just kidding.

Good response; honest, straight forward.

Baseball is a business even if we don't like it, don't want to recognize it, and lose our favorite player in the process.

Management doesn't worry about it all IMO. They've, generally speaking, have a firm grasp on the bigger picture which we - the fans - may not.

Sounds like he's working hard. I think JD will lay the groundwork to get a nice move done. I'm not saying it will be a super sexy move, but I think he'll get us something worth having.

#Mets and #Rangers having discussions about a trade that would send Dillon Gee to Texas, sources say.

Not sure Gee makes us better.

Only more than 150 innings pitched three times in the last four years. 160 in 2011, 199 in 2013, and 137 in 2014.

Career numbers include the following:

6.53 k/9
2.88 b/9
1.09 hr/9
ERA 3.91(in the NL. Expect at least a half run increase)
FIP: 4.27
WHIP: 1.31
GB/FB: 1.21

None of this screams upgrade to me. A borderline fly ball pitcher making the move from NL to AL with a less than desirable GB/FB ratio and at least 1 hr/9.

Meh.... We better not give up anything of value for him.

My thoughts exactly, both on how much exactly he would help and how we'd better not be giving up anything of significant value to get him. He's a very up and down pitcher with not a ton of upside. If he costs us any real legitimate prospects, I'd rather just roll with Tepesch.

Exactly. He's no better than Martinez or Tepesch. He would be a depth addition. Syndergaard though...I would be alright with added that hulk of a 22 year old.

With these numbers, I bet JD will not give up much.
