Everyone seems to be thinking I meant that there were not valuable players picked other than #1. I simply stated that historically the #1 is a lot more valuable than the #4 pick.

Kris Medlen and Brandon Beachy are both officially free agents now. I'd like to see the Rangers sign one of them to a small-term/make-good contract if possible. There's a chance that one or both are both cooked, a la Brandon Webb, but they're both still young enough and talented enough that a comeback might be possible.

Medlen is someone I would definitely like to sign to a contract. I'd make it 2 years, just to show we are serious and make it linked to health. Heck, do a 2 year with 3rd year vesting if he makes a certain number of starts over the first two. The kid has stuff, just also has health questions.


And then of course with no one talking about Max, something is going to blow up soon. I know we are looking for bats, but I have a feeling Texas is talking with Scherzers people.

He's a gold glover yet he's not that great of an OFer, he racks up a lot of OF assists but thats about it

He's solid for sure, don't get me wrong, but saying he's a gold glover doesn't mean much

Ultimately depends on the cost though, much rather pay him than Hunter for sure

He seems to be sought after pretty heavily. I wouldn't get into any kind of bidding war over him. I would rather trade for Upton.
