So whats the dead money going to look like if we cut Bethea after two years? is it just (6.5 million guaranteed divided by 4 yrs) x the years left? So 2 years would be 3.25 million in dead money?

Half of the $5M signing bonus

Only 5 million up front? Wow that's better than I expected in the offseason of horror.

Anyone know his 2014 & 2015 salaries?

So signing bonus money is where the dead money comes from if I'm understanding correctly.

Do you know how guaranteed money comes into play then and how that affects the salary cap/dead money?

If other money like base salaries are gtd then they can count as dead money as well.

No problem.

@mattbarrows: 49ers want to bring back WR Kassim Osgood. May not do so until they sign a CB and determine their remaining cap space.

Forget about Carroll...
@AdamSchefter: And now the Eagles have reached agreement with former Dolphins CB Nolan Carroll. Philly moving and shaking.

2015 $3M base, $400k roster, $100k workout bonus
2016 $4.5M base, $400k roster, $100k workout

Got an update on Wright's contract. We are using the minimum salary exemption to lower his 2014 cap hit to $590K.
Explaining the Minimum Salary Benefit - Over the Cap

Eric Wright signed a one-year, $900,000 contract, a source told CSNBayArea.com. There was no signing bonus, but he is scheduled to receive a $20,000 reporting bonus. He'll also earn a $25,000 roster bonus if he's on the 53-man roster to open the season. His base salary is $855,000, but he'll count just $590,000 against the 49ers' cap due to the minimum salary benefit. He also can make $20,000 in not-likely-to-be-earned incentives attached to play time. 49ers free agent tracker | CSN Bay Area

Makes my ballpark cap space number $2,838,039. Once the Dawson details come out that can change. Again, we get $6.6M more on June 2nd from the Rogers cut.

Its kind of like the Rogers contract. So I see him being released after year 3.

Dawson details:
@MaioccoCSN: RT @TomPelissero Phil Dawson's 2-year, $6.134M deal with #49ers included $2M signing bonus. Gets $3M in first year. > 2014 cap figure: $2M.

So take $1,045,000 (Dawson increase) from $2,838,039 and that leaves us with:
$1,793,039 in cap space until June 2nd when Rogers $6.6M relief kicks in.

I think I will be lowering my expectations of signing Edelman or Thurmond unless they are cutting some guys soon like Baldwin, Snyder and Dahl. Otherwise they gotta put in a big June 2nd bonus in their deals lol.

Even though they said they wouldnt maybe asking Gore to take a pay cut wouldnt be a bad idea.

We sign a WR, Baldwin would get cut, and if we sign a CB I think Wright might be cut.

Also maybe try and trade LMJ for like a 5th or 6th rd pick.

Alright so I rechecked my numbers and realized I didn't have Bethea's right amount for 2014 changed yet.

Current cap space until Rogers comes of the books June 2nd is:
$3,871,164

When he does come off we will have around 9 million. So I was off 2 million. 49ers will cut others if they need to.
