Brown is already 29, but wouldn't mind if they locked him into a 3 year contract structured to cut him loose after two. It's nice for the rookie to have another veteran CB who's been in the system. That move would make Whitner more expendable. I can see why they don't want Reid to be paired up with a rookie, to go along with Brock paired up with another rookie.

Either Brown gets re-signed or a vet fills that role, then hopefully SS gets filled with another vet, and then add the rookies. We definitely need a high Rd CB, but then throw in a mid to late Rd SS and CB.

I have no issue with Reid being paired up with another rookie(s). I have no problem if we draft S and CB in the first 3 rounds in this draft, then promptly start them if their talent and grasp of the defensive concepts are as sound as Reid's were last season.

As Kawakami is pointing out in this series of articles, it really cuts both ways. Singletary basically had the same talent as Harbaugh, but couldn't do anything with it. Of course, the distance between Singletary and Nolan is pretty great. Ideally these guys would just figure out how to work together toward a common goal.

if you have a 'Singletary' situation, you can change the HC and the new one has a chance to win right away. this is what Harbaugh came into, a team with talent.

if you don't have a good GM, you can change him but by that time, your team is decimated of talent. it'll take 3 good drafts to get it going again....IF the new GM is any good?

Take everything Bill Williamson says with a grain of salt. I think the guy is required to put something out about the 49ers every day by the looks of some of his "articles".

Yes, he is terrible and pretty much all of the stuff he puts out has already been written by every one of our beat reporters.

OK, so I'm hoping for Thurmond over TBrown. Stevie Brown + a rookie safety over Whitner and a Nicks/Britt/Rice over Baldwin (whichever is the cheapest). Dawson = pay the man.

I'd be totally fine stealing Walter Thurmond from the Seahawks. He's a better CB than Brandon Browner...

The only down side is that it screws up the compensatory pick formula. I'm still holding out hope Antonio Cromartie gets cut & signs with SF.

Tom Pelissero ‏@TomPelissero 16m

Mild surprise: #49ers are tendering backup TE/DL Demarcus Dobbs, at the low RFA level ($1.431M). Also tendered LB Michael Wilhoite ($570K).

This lessens my confidence that the Niners are really interested in Michael Bennett (which is a good thing).

@mattbarrows 7m

Would be olive branch from front office to Harbaugh ... @jadrouny What is the level of interest, likelihood of @49ers signing #TobyGerhart?

So it looks like Tukuafu has re-upped for $645,000K per ninercaphell. I'll have to re-do the numbers plus I have left out some dead money and cap carry over to consider.

Alright dead money, misc. bonuses, 2013 cap carry over, addition of Tukuafu and subtraction of Rogers at lets say pre June 1st cut gives us $15,156,620 in cap space for the Top 51/dead money total.
