Brown is already 29, but wouldn't mind if they locked him into a 3 year contract structured to cut him loose after two. It's nice for the rookie to have another veteran CB who's been in the system. That move would make Whitner more expendable. I can see why they don't want Reid to be paired up with a rookie, to go along with Brock paired up with another rookie.
Either Brown gets re-signed or a vet fills that role, then hopefully SS gets filled with another vet, and then add the rookies. We definitely need a high Rd CB, but then throw in a mid to late Rd SS and CB.
I have no issue with Reid being paired up with another rookie(s). I have no problem if we draft S and CB in the first 3 rounds in this draft, then promptly start them if their talent and grasp of the defensive concepts are as sound as Reid's were last season.
