Glad the off-season has started, and glad Nap got a ring. Go to work JD.

How high do you think the Rangers will go?
I could see the Angels trading Trumbo, and signing Nelly just to stick it to us.

Considering what the Angels gave Puljos and Hamilton, not to mention GMJ, sticking it to themselves seems to be a full time job.

agree the QO only guarantees that the rangers get a 1st round supplemental pick if he signs with someone else. i think the Rangers seriously look at a 3 year deal for around 39M for Cruz

The other thing it almost guarantees is that he doesn't sign elsewhere, I doubt anyone is going to give up a 1st rounder and a big contract to guy a coming off a PED suspension

We'll have Cruz for at least one more year

Disagree.....I feel he may even get a 3 year offer. How you looked at what's available on the open market? There's almost no power out there.

I'd be stunned if he doesn't get at least 2 years. In fact, I hope we offer him for two.

Well looks like you're alive. lol

Been busy. Just took a new job, just passed my licensure test a few weeks ago, and I've been traveling a lot.

its not the money and its not the years, its the draft compensation

I have serious doubts about any team willing to part with a draft pick for Cruz, unless its at the last minute, which I doubt Cruz waits that long

I really do not have a problem signing him for 2 years. He was productive last year and I do not see him tailing off yet.

don't like the new CBA rule on compensatory picks. you lose your 1st round pick but the team losing the player only gets a supplemental pick between the 1st & 2nd rounds. doesn't feel fair

Hope we do sign him for two but he may not like being a DH if that is what JD has in mind. I don't really like the idea of him starting RF. However, we need his bat.

According to Olney, the Rangers and Mariners will be two of the most aggressive teams on the Ellsbury market this winter.

I'm having a hard time believing Olney on this one.

There is a lack of 25 home run power in the free market. He will get a 2-3 year deal easily. What does a team like Boston it NY give a shit about losing their first pick?

It's a lot more fair than the old system. Not every FA is going to get a QO. I love this rule.

I don't want him for anything more than one year. He would be a bridge to 2015 at DH where Texas can explore better options.

We all seem to agree the Rangers need RBI guys in the worst way. But you don't seem to have anything more than a minimal interest in the guy who is by far the best RBI hitter available. He's been with us for what, 7 years?? and has produced well the last 3/4. Really don't get the lack of interest.
