Reds GM Jocketty is saying that it will be difficult for them to re-sign Choo with the dollar figures that are being floated around. Doubt JD will spend the money either, maybe Mariners pull the trigger

Yeah its so slow its almost stopped, watching the Duke/FSU game and the OSU/MSU. FSU looks like they will probably win by 40.
As expected I imagine.

I can't see JD going after him. I would like to know what his plans are. We sure can't go into the season with out some more bats.

The article made a good point I hadn't really considered about tanaka. If we were willing to put forward 20 mil (which I'm sure we would) not only would we have a huge advantage to signing him with darvish's success and our extra money to blow, but we would be able to trade any of our other pitchers. It makes our entire rotation, besides darvish, expendable. That would be terrific, because every single one of our pitchers has a club friendly deal and is much more valuable than the $$ would indicate. Also, none of them are even out of their 20's yet.

Will Tanaka be in the bid or held back? When will we know?

To my understanding, the reps from his japanese team are meeting with hims sometime next week and are gonna really try to push to keep him there. They are upset over the new 20 million rule, because he was gonna get a bid for almost triple that. We should know as soon as the decision is made though

It appears in this article that JD is not going to spend a lot of money this year. Building the team as JD describes points more to 2014 more than this year.

Youkilis, Morse, and Chavez? I would rather roll with what we got and move on to another year than pay guys that are injury prone and missed significant parts of the past couple seasons or didn't perform like Morse last year

He' not talking like a man that plans to win his division in 2014.

He isn't done, I asure you. They say that sorta stuff all the time. I'm CERTAIN we'll make at least one more impact move. I mean, from what I've heard, his actions in private contradict everything that he says in public, so its probably either a ploy or hes trying to ease the expectations of the fans a bit on a huge move this offseason so there isn't as much pressure to do so.

I think he will stay, there is no immediate reason to post him as I think he has another year before he becomes a FA? They can keep him another year and earn revenue from having him on the team and post him next year

Have my doubts about him now. They can be convincing, I'm sure.

Hope your right terps. By the way thanks for your input. You have made this off season a lot less boring.
