Montgomery exercised his player option.

From Jeff Wilson:

How much of the $22.5 million would Arizona have to eat for #Rangers to take him back?
We will give them Max Acosta if they will eat $15 million or Ian Moller if they only eat $13 million.

Do we really want him back?

Well, he was a really good pitcher with the exception of last year when his status was unsettled all offseason and all of spring training. I think he bounces back in a big way.

He could very well bounce back.
He performed in the big stage. Not all pitchers can handle that type of pressure

My main beef last year was not playing young players still at the prospect level after we were outbid the race.

Young guys like Carter Wyatt and Leiter are legit and Bochy did play them. He obviously overused Robbie and Jank which makes his roster selection suspect

Compared to some managers he manages the pen well not overworking Rhein in prep for the playoffs

I saw a note on mlbtraderumors that mentioned the possibility of the Rangers trading Heim for Wilson Contreras. The Cardinals are looking to cut payroll and could potentially trade several players.

I also read where Lowe was being discussed prior to this year's trade deadline.

From Jon Morosi's article about the next wave of talent from Japan and Korea:

Tomoyuki Sugano, RHP, Yomiuri Giants
Sugano nearly moved to MLB during the 2020-2021 offseason, when the Giants broke with longstanding club tradition and posted him for MLB teams. Sugano showed his sincerity about moving to North America by traveling to the U.S. prior to the January signing deadline; in the end, he couldn’t reach an agreement.

Sugano, now 35, is poised to try again. He’s accumulated enough service time to be an international free agent, so he can pursue options throughout the offseason rather than within a posting window. He’s also coming off a dominant season, in which he went 15-3 with a 1.67 ERA for the Giants over 156 2/3 innings.

From Jom Bowden's 25 predictions regarding signings and trades:

13. The Rangers re-sign righty Nathan Eovaldi (two-year, $42 million deal with a club option) and land reliever Carlos Estévez (three years, $33 million) in free agency.

Foscue and other young guys often struggle, but just like veterans who go through prolonged slumps they need to play there way out of them. Duran could be seen the same way under Bochy at times. Smith was that way until Bochy was forced to give him regular playing time.

Sometimes they struggle because they can't hit MLB pitching.

Whether they struggle early on or hit great early on, you need a big enough sample size of regular playing time to know for sure. We have seen examples of both of those extremes around here.
