I mean, from what I've heard, his actions in private contradict everything that he says in public, so its probably either a ploy or hes trying to ease the expectations of the fans a bit on a huge move this offseason so there isn't as much pressure to do so.

You're probably right b/c it makes no sense as stated in the article.

The only one I like is Tanaka, but with the Yankees needing pitching we will be priced out there too.

It appears in this article that JD is not going to spend a lot of money this year. Building the team as JD describes points more to 2014 more than this year.

I got the boomstick up hoping for at least Cruz, don't want to have to put up the alternate one up. Obviously we would need another bat and/or a leadoff guy but the man went a long way to winning us a ALCS one year. Pay him and lets address the rest

yeah I don't see him giving 75 million but thats his asking and we saw what Cano got vs the 310 million or whatever he was seeking. I think Cruz for 3 years for 45 million isn't to much of an overpay(if he would agree) and for whatever it is he doesn't do, we all know he can cut into a lead or give the Rangers a 3 run lead with one swing

Pretty much. Don't think it matters who fsu plays though. They'll kill either of auburn our Ohio state.

I heard its more the years than the money. Cruz is seeking 4 where JD wants 2 with an option.

Meaning they could settle on 3 with an option with choice waiting in the wings of Cruz gets hurt.

No doubt its posturing. it makes no sense for him to say 'I must get a LF' or 'ill only spend X amount of money' bc then agents know such things and will gain leverage in negotiations.

I just don't know exactly what to do about that, people have mentioned Gardener but Im not sure on him and he's a FA after the year anyway. Im sure JD has a better idea of the options than I do but will he make a move or let Wash anoint a guy that really hasn't showed he can get on base much the leadoff guy before ST
