I don't know why. I'm assuming Beltran wasn't interested in playing here, or JD didn't want to give up a pick for him. Someone asked what the 2009 approach was and I believe he's referring to not giving up a bunch of your picks. He wants to build the farm again, and those are your trade assets.
It's Kemp, Justin. Like it or not. May have been his hand all along.

Obviously the FA landscape has changed. These deals are ridiculous and I do not want a deal of 8-10 years for someone over 30. But if there is someone we really want it will cost plenty of money and we will have to ante up. Not the length but the money.

Yeah I got no interest in the 8-10 year mega deals but the kind of deals Beltran and Napoli are signing are fair deals and we offered Nap a deal so what can you do? Offer a little more money or another year or extra incentives is all I guess

I wonder what it'd take to get Brett Gardner from NYY?

I understand, but you can't compare Berkman with Beltran, Berkman was in retirement...
Beltran, while in some decline, tore it up just two months ago

I agree. My response was after missing out on Beltran and hoping we do not make what looks like another desperation move.

So with the Yankees and the Dodgers not needing Choo, who would be after him that can afford it

Not say stupid things like "Prince is our 1B, no matter what" thats a good start

Did I miss something? Did Wash or JD say that? How the hell can you say that before ST when you are still trying to land FA's?

I think it's the 2nd rounder, as I'm pretty sure the Mets 1st rounder is top 10 protected

Pretty positive that's the case, it is a top 10
