We traded Leury for Rios. That couldn't have gone any better for Texas

Yeah, 1 for 1. Just kidding. The point was rookies don't make good utility IFs for the most part.

Agreed. Kind of why I don't want Choice as a 4th OF...play him everyday either in AAA or MLB

I would hate to lose Odor but Sardinas I am okay with.

This seems to be the prevailing thought. I don't know these two guys well enough to know myself. But everyone really is high on Odor - as well as major league scouts too.

We are getting way right handed hitting for my liking we need our next signing to be a left handed bat for sure. Here is a look at our team against each.

RIGHT HAND PITCHER LEFT HAND PITCHER

CF Leonys Martin LH CF Leonys Martin LH
SS Elvis Andrus RH SS Elvis Andrus RH
1B Prince Fielder LH 1B Prince Fielder LH
3B Adrian Beltre RH 3B Adrian Beltre RH
DH Mitch Moreland LH RF Alex Rios RH
RF Alex Rios RH DH Geoany Soto RH
LF Michael Choice RH LF Michael Choice RH
C Geovany Soto RH C J.P.Arencibia RH
2B Jurickson Profar SH 2B Jurickson Profar SH

As you can see the lineups still need some tweaking here is a list of the players that could help our lineup.
Left handed hitters Choo,Beltran and Kubel
Right handed hitters Napoli,Beltran and Kemp

You can see fitting in Beltran would help both line ups considerably and Kubel could be a buy low signing that could be another left handed bat.I hope that Sardinas beats out Rosales as the utility player has more pop in the bat then Rosales

Soto hits LHPs pretty well in his career, 2013 is his outlier season, so I don't kno why you sit him against LHPs for a guy with a career .697 OPS against LHPs (Soto .800+ in his career)

Its not going to be a platoon split for these guys, it'll be Soto unless he needs a day off

Arencibia will probably actually catch a lot of the day games

Interesting and well thought out.

Two questions: (1) do you know what splits Profar has? (2) Tell me more about Kubel and how you feel he fits in please?

Profar is pretty weak against LHPs so far .521 OPS and .706 vs RHPs

This seems to be the prevailing thought. I don't know these two guys well enough to know myself. But everyone really is high on Odor - as well as major league scouts too.

I think Parks rated Odor as #1 in our system. 2B that's advanced with the bat....Sardinas more of a defensive SS with nice contact skills.

Maybe Texas slides Profar to 3B next year and puts Odor at 2B? Beltre DHs

Have kept up with him and others in our minors at class A and up about everyday. He hits for average and has some pop in his bat. Was leading or 2nd in doubles and avg at Myrtle Beach. Then gets called up to Frisco and in just a little over 130 ABs hits 305 with 8 dbls 2 trips and 6 HRs.

Profar should just bat left handed. I didn't like his right handed swing.

He'd prob be even worse against LHP batting as a lefty...plus, he's so young that you'd have to expect that to improve

I would hope that would be the eventual plan. I know jta has been on board with that as well.
