Good lord I have a lot of work to do outside!

I thought I'd chime in. Isn't that what pending a physical means? I was told that cano is off the boards pending a physical. And by JD's actions this morning by calling all of those teams, I got the feeling he does too. Unless he learns news the same way we do. Maybe he saw the espn source and said dammit he's gone, but maybe he hasn't ACTUALLY heard anything yet. Highly unlikely, but I wonder if that is the case. Its interesting to think about what the actual GMs have access too regarding news wise. Like, do they know about trades AS SOON as they happen? Is there some type of fax that they get whenever a transaction takes place? Or do they hear about it the same way we do. With something as big as the cano signing, you'd think that as soon as cano signs JD would find out ESPECIALLY if its within the division

no problem at all, I just didn't believe the Mariners would wait to announce, so I did a little digging

In hindsight, I suppose when your talking almost a qt billion bucks, you wanna make sure the I's are dotted, the physical is passed before assuming it's a done deal. Just ask Nap about that one.

I'd be shocked if this is overturned. But the tweets have slowed to a crawl.

hmmmm

Total speculation, but what if the Yankees jumped in and agree to 210 or something like that, would Cano stop and think about it?

I know he doesn't make the team a lot better next year, but I don't want him in this division.

yeah it's bullshit. We talked about it some earlier.what really sucks is look at the group Mexico got drawn into after their s***** qualifying campaign.

I had been away and reading the past pages on mobile is a pain. And, yeah I saw Mexico's fortunate draw. Honduras got a nice group too. And the US will have to travel like 9000 miles during group stage. Hopefully Klinsmann will have us very fit and that whole European teams do terrible away from
Europe deal rings true.

Even in that case, they announced his deal pending a physical.... and then he didn't pass the physical to their satisfaction...(and we know the rest of the story)..they took his price and years down

I guess my point is, teams aren't bound to one red cent until that physical is passed

I may be making something out of nothing, but this isn't normal.

Surprised we haven't heard more on Napoli. Marlins are out, I believe. But I thought something was imminent.

I could see Portugal and Ghana really struggling in south America. The soccer power index gives Portugal and USA an equal shot of moving out of the group.

I'm fairly certain JD would know something before ESPN or MLBTR made an announcement, but maybe not a lot of the other details.

I'm speaking to rumors, not trades that are kept close the chest..even then, they probably get word about a trade before we do.

10yr/240.
I wish we didn't have to face him all the time, but the worst part is this puts the Yankess right back into the FA pool.
I bet the M's try to trade for Price now.

Im just glad he signed somewhere else besides the Rangers.I hate those 7 to 10 year deals that are over 200 million plus contracts that hamstring you from signing other players.Look at all the big deals in the last 5 o 6 years Pujols,A Rod,Josh,CC Sabathia just among a few and there teams have all gotten worse since they have signed them because they have no budget to improve.Have fun losing in Seattle Cano and thanks for taking another team out of the running for the AL West.It is going to be the Rangers,A's and the Astros for four or five more years

I was thinking the same. I expect Ghana to lose every game so it will come down to the USA/Portugal game.

I hope you're right, but I don't think Ghana is a pushover.

USA better wear the red hoops jersey too, dammit.

I don't like the 10 yr deals. Despise them actually. But if I wanted to sign someone long term Cano is a good one. He's been extremely healthy, and put up fantastic numbers. And there's absolutely no reason to think he won't be a very productive player for the foreseeable future.

IMO this signing doesn't hamper Seattle. In fact, just the opposite. Their payroll was only $84 Mil last year, and if you back a few pages here Lainey posted an article about how little money they have extended - even with King Felix - in the future.
