Would you all be willing to give Trout a 10 year contract when the time comes? I hate long contracts but I would have to think about it because he brings so much to the table.

Probably. How old will he be when he hits free agency.

I agree with ya. Even at $175 M for 7/8 years is some scary territory.

I'm expecting the M's do do what the Angels did with Hamilton; here's our final offer, sign now, or once you leave the room the offer has expired.
Hope you are right.

If they are not careful they will handcuff themselves like the Angels have.

According to deadspin, the Angels payroll was $142 M+ while the M's had $84+ for last season.

Just for discussion purposes, at least Trout is much younger...so it would make more sense on that point.
But ten just seems crazy for anyone considering you don't know what could happen

Thing is, even with Cano and Cruz they're still not contenders. Not even close.

You're correct. But I think their thinking is, we've got to start somewhere bc we're nowhere now.

And if I remember correctly, they have some good arms coming up within the next 1/2 years.

Pitching has never been their problem.

you would sign him to a ten year at 27? I was thinking, maybe if he was 23

He's going to be a beast for the vast majority of not all of those years. Hell yes.
