Cuban slugger Jose Dariel Abreu's name continues to generate buzz. The latest, courtesy of ESPN's Buster Olney, is that the Rangers, White Sox and Astros have emerged as the front-runners to sign the 26-year-old, and his price tag is expected to be around $70MM

Sorry ... that's just not smart. Why would you want a guy with that sort of injury history at any price? His chance of going out isn't less just because you pay him less.

Obviously that's not what I meant. That why it's a risk. I'd be willing to roll the dice depending on the price.

I pray he's worth that price tag. I would rather have my doubts and be proven wrong though.

I know right. It's hard to imagine someone having a bigger impact than Puig, and at 25-35 million more. I'm assuming you're talking about Abreu now, and not Kemp.

Robbie Ross is also headed to the Dominican Winter League at the end of the month. He'll be on the Este Toro club with Neftali Feliz .

They would have to pay quite a bit of the money no matter where he goes. I talked about trading Ian to Miami, not LA. I think they would take on Ian's contract though because he helps their team, Kemp doesn't. Yes the risk is high, but this guy is one of the best players in the league when he's healthy. You know I would rather have Stanton, and I think we will keep trying to get Miami to budge.

Trade Ian to MIA for who? Their gimpy COF? Sure ... I can see MIA paying 1/3 of their salary for a 2d baseman.

I wasn't talking about for only Ian, and the salary argument doesn't hold water because they are in on the Abreu sweepstakes. I heard about the Rangers possibly being in on Cano, and said maybe we could trade Ian to Miami. I know it's not likely.

Of course they are in on Abreu. This is Miami and Abreu is Cuban. That will draw loads of Cubans to the park. An again Jewish guy from Arizona isn't going to do the same.

My point is they are willing to spend to upgrade their team, and I never said Ian and only Ian. I also said Profar+ at the time.

I know JD has a lot of interest in Stanton, and knows MIA wants Abreu. I wonder if JD has something up his sleeve? I've read that Morales doesn't have as much power, but is a better hitter. I'm not sure how much Morales will command, but it won't be 70 million like Abreu.

I think a lot of ya want to punt on any and all who haven't produced in the 2 years you've ever heard their name. I'm not saying Engel will be terrific. However, he's only 23 and has great speed, decent arm, quick bat, good guy and still lots of upside. Don't punt him just quite yet.
