Did not realize that Choice was the A's #2 prospect at the time of the trade and that he was from Mansfield Timberview HS and UTA.

Seems that way but what does Billy Beane know that we don't? I had no idea Gentry would net this type prospect

Gentry will be a absolutely terrific asset to them. That huge field and foul territory will put those Gentry wheels to rolling. We all know he's a excellent OF, with an above average arm, and the smarts to know how/when to use it.

Again, his speed is a perfect fit for them offensively too.

And if you don't watch Money Ball, you're only penalizing yourself. It's fantastic. Pitt and Hoffman were a great one two punch.

I think it is interesting to see how things work in how crazy things can get when a deal is trying to be made.

I guess the Mets are picking up the pace for Granderson.

Nieves is gone to Phillies. Guess we either look for a trade partner or get ready to see the catcher hitting 9 all year.

I guess the Mets are picking up the pace for Granderson.

The article on ESPN said nothing was imminent, yet they also said the Mets would probably be willing to guarantee a 4th year to make it work.

He'd be a pretty good fit for us. But that 4th year is a tough one to swallow.

I'm fully expecting for Murphy, Gentry and Kinsler to all have decent to good seasons this year.

Actually, I hope so. IMO there shouldn't be anything but well wishes and warm responses when they come visiting. Wishing nothing bust success, except for the X number of times they play against us. haha

I'm not about the price trade anymore. No extension, no deal. I would love braun though. Fill the jewish black hole that is missing in our lineup.

I see what you did there.

Maybe they take Joey Butler, Moreland and Tepesch but I don't know if they are down on Braun enough to send him for that or are they looking for a front of the rotation pitcher as they need significant help there

Believe Butler was claimed on waivers earlier this year by someone...

EDIT: He was.

for the last month i've been arguing that we shouldn't believe that the Rangers were going to stick to JD's comment about payroll for 2014 coming in at or just below last year's but now i am becoming more convinced that we are seeing the Ranger's plan which seems to be what everyone else was saying that the Rangers are taking a step or two backwards.

Settle down Scotty. They already took a big step forward with fielder and there's still plenty of time for another big move or two.

Really do not want Matt Kemp.

I have very little confidence he'll return to the player he used to be. Of the three they might trade I think I'd prefer ethier.

I've been on record as not preferring EiTHIER, but I like to make puns.

I'd consider Kemp if Dodgers are willing to send us substantial money back our way. But ya if there is a deal to be made via trade I'd prefer CarGo and Braun over Kemp.

I have a hard time deciding on Granderson. Last year was really his first year to miss a significant amount of playing time. He does not steal much and strikes out over 150 times a year and hits around 260. But at the same time he gets a fair share of walks and has power. At 32 still has some life left in that bat. I could live with 260 avg if he hit 30-35 HRs.
