Kinsler is not even close to being a problem, or weakness on this team. Profar has more value. He'd have even more value if we wouldn't have called him up this year.

No, he's been far from a problem and that's not an opinion

Exactly. Like I've said many times, I think Profar will be solid, but nothing great. I also don't think he will be in a Ranger uniform next year.
He will likely have a few all star seasons, and maybe even one or two MVP caliber seasons. I will take that all day.

He might have a few all-star seasons, but MVP seasons? That seems a like a stretch. Who knows though. That's why I love the game.
IMO he doesn't have the power or run production to be an MVP.

you watch baseball....I'll correct myself, any scorer!

many errors are ruled hits and visa versa, but way more errors are given as hits

but hey.....jump in anytime and be a score keeper, it's what 5 or 6 of you do for each other

:L

I thought the discussion was about Kinsler...

I've agreed with you on this topic so far, but I don't get the scorer advantage, I can't think of any out of the ordinary instances where Kinsler has had an inordinate amount of errors called hits

It's a problem I have with pro baseball in general and the scorekeeping
It's not an Ian thing....it's a baseball thing.
being first for all 2nd baseman means something

so you don't like Kinsler because the only value a 2nd brings is defense....and you think he's poor defensively

If this game were based on defense, we'd need another 1000 teams, the problem is most can't hit at this level, it's not the defense that dooms careers

no....do you think Profar can't exceed Kinsler standards....try to look beyond the two 30 HR seasons

Kinsler is not even close to being a problem, or weakness on this team. Profar has more value on the trade market. He'd have even more value if we wouldn't have called him up this year. We might shop them both.

OR

kinsler is on decline and somewhat average as 2nd basemen go. Look past the HR's.

Profar? The opportunity is all that is needed.

solid teammate...no question
as was Mike Young
The point?

"solid teammate"? Can someone find me that data on Fangraphs, I don't how to quantify a solid teammate

"look past his 30/30 seasons" I can't look past those seasons, they're a matter of record now.

"hometown scorer" no, just..... no.

"Mike Young" who?

Okay, I got it, Kinsler is old and has suddenly morphed into "Mike Young".
Here's the problem, we don't really know how good Profar will be, he was at the plate 324 times...the numbers were not good. However, that's unfair to Profar, so forget those numbers.

I don't know if you trade Profar or not, all depends on the deal.
What I do know, is that no one really knows for sure if Profar will be an elite player or even an above average one.

Hell, he might not even come close to Ian Kinsler's value
that's the point, (you asked for a point)... we don't know

JD has to decide

I mean...Kins has been an all star 3 times, a 30-30 guy twice, and has finished as high as 11th in MVP voting. I pray that Profar puts up those kind of numbers. I really do, but it's not realistic to expect that at all.

little extreme but understandable
I think Profar is the better 2nd baseman for the Texas Rangers for the next 5 years.
That has been the point from the start

just like the Washington situation. I can wait and see what happens.
Opinions vary and Lord knows that gets the cub scout troop all messed up

LOL....put your finger in each others belt loop.
shake that magic 8 ball and tell me how that pans out going forward.

you're already on record saying Profar won't ever hit plus 17 HR's.

I remain good with all stated opinions and frankly, you bore me now.

1. Washington
2. Cruz
3. Kinsler

lol

It's the ongoing debate that will finally be resolved by next season....and it's been unfair to Profar and Kinsler
IMO
I'm sure Kinsler, Profar, and Moreland will be the most names bandied about this winter meetings. And I'm not sure it will be resolved by next season.

You have no clue what the word ceiling is. Guys can play above their ceiling. I told you he will never be a 30-30 player, and I stand by that, because it's not happening.

You remain ridiculous with all the random opining that you do.

wouldn't be a topic if we didn't have Profar. Now getting rid of Profar cause his contract is the easiest to trade in order to keep Ian fat dumb and happy at second base is a losers mentality. Keeping Kinsler for 1B duty is just as bad IMO.

Frankly, when I factor all that Ian has been for the Rangers, I don't get the love affair. It's as if the guy put up all world numbers his entire career and that isn't the case. Great range that remains error prone. I don't get it.....not at the expense of Profar I don't

Wait! Wait! But Kinsler is the Face of the Franchise!

(that worked for the last guy)
