I said close to the same a few pages back. I would have loved to sign him at around 4/56, but anything over 65-70 and it's too much. Hell, 56 is probably too much.

I saw one figure at 5/85. 17MM AAV back loaded might not be the worst contract. Would end up being more like 14 14 17 20 20. Those are always a gamble though.

understand that JD has minimal interest in Butler. they are looking for production on both sides, offensive and defensive.

Choo would be awesome to have leading off, but still doesn't solve our #3 problem.

I think Choo or Kinsler in the 3 or 1 hole is fine, I would view their games as fairly interchangeable, Choo being the superior player in most respects, question is, do you want him 3rd or 1st if you have Kinsler leading off

Another problem besides the money with signing those three is they will cost three first round picks.

That was my point. I would've wanted to sign him at that price, but not what he's going to get. I think it will be closer to 80, but who knows. Hunter Pence got 90, so...

Agree and I still think we may get two of the FA's but one will have to include a trade for a third.

Cruz is OUR FA, so he doesn't cost a pick, McCann/Beltran would cost a 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder

In 820 career PA he has a .340 OBP leading off. Not great, but still fairly decent.

As would I but who knows with Wash, but I don't see a big issue either way, Choo's OBP skills are superior so I would also prefer him hitting leadoff

I think the issue with Andrus in the leadoff spot is he's become a much less effective hitter overall, but maybe he's more mature now and could not have it affect his overall game
