I know there are some that are not fans, but I have a feeling that we will sign Beltran. He will be cheaper than Nelly, except for the pick. Also, we need someone to fill out the #3 spot in the line-up. He could be signed sooner rater then later.

I'm watching the MLB Network and Bob Nightengale is standing in Busch Stadium. They asked him "what do you think the Cards will do at SS". He said I think they will trade for one of the Rangers SS. They really like them both. The other option is Stephen Drew and they don't like him near as much as trading for Profar or Andrus.

Does anyone think it would be a good idea to sign Colon? We could probably get him on a 1 year deal. His last 3 years have been really good. Kuroda is another one I wouldn't mind signing to a 1 year deal.

He averages 24 HR's a year. I don't really consider him a power hitter, but he certainly has power.

correct....projected over 162 games each year....keyword be projected
156 into 8 years is 19.5
BUT....least we both don't consider him a power hitter

Most of his years were not full years so he's hit a good amount of HR's in the amount of games played. He's only played more than 150 games 3 times.

Thanks. Kinda explains projected vs actual to your point of 24 per.
Funny thing about stats.....they can be misleading

That's a bad idea on principle alone, a lot of Rangers fans hate that guy, I personally would not watch any game he pitches

So what do you think of Matt kemp for Andrus? That seems like a crazy proposal

If there's any way you can get Kemp for Ian I would take the risk. Gentry/Martin can fill in, if needed.

The question was about Andrus, but the Dodgers also just signed the Cuban kid for a good amount of money

They will cost about the same, Nelly would probably get an extra year but Beltran would get more on AAV

I'm in the camp that says no to Beltran. Great player in his day and is still a damn good one but at 37 years old, that wall is going to come and I think whoever signs him to more than a 1 year deal will have to deal with it and I don't want it to be the Rangers. I'd rather take that money and give it to Nelly and add an extra year if need be.

Beltran has been pretty damn underrated these last few years

He's a great player but not worth more than a 1 year deal. He won't accept that because he knows someone will bite and give him 2 guaranteed years. I'm just hesitant due to his age. That wall will come soon and I'd rather not be Texas having to deal with it.

I'd give Beltran 2 years with the 2nd being incentive laden, easily reachable incentives but contingent on how much he actually plays

The thing about Beltran that makes him appealing to me is he instantly fills the #3 spot. Neither Cruz nor McCann do that. Obviously I still want McCann but we need a #3 very badly.

Michael Scott, writer for Fox Sports Detroit, proposed the following trade: Max Scherzer for either EA or Profar and a promising minor league pitcher.

Would anyone make this deal? Keep in mind, Scherzer will be a FA after next season.
