He has been hurt the past 2 years. The years before he wasn't, and should have been MVP. We have a logjam in the middle infield, and Ian is overpaid. We need a COFer and big bats. Pending a physical, I'd be willing to take the risk. It allows us to keep Profar and EA. If the Dodgers were to pick up a lot of the salary then yeah, I would.

Yes, I know the Dodgers signed Guerrero, but I think I read somewhere that he might not even be MLB ready.

too much of a gamble but say they did, how much would you expect the Dodgers to eat and still take on Kinsler's 57M contract? i would expect them to eat at least 85M

You expect them to eat 85 of 130? I don't think that's going to happen. I was thinking closer to 40-50.

so we take on 80-90M of his contract and hope he is usable for those 6 years? rather gamble on Kinsler

Michael Scott, writer for Fox Sports Detroit, proposed the following trade: Max Scherzer for either EA or Profar and a promising minor league pitcher.

Would anyone make this deal? Keep in mind, Scherzer will be a FA after next season.

If he would agree to a one year option to the Rangers, I'd say yes. Otherwise, too much for a rental

Yes, you do. Kinsler is starting to slow down, and can never put up the type of numbers that Kemp does, when healthy. It would allow us to keep Profar as well. Kemp was healthy the other 4.5 years. He is one of the 5 best players in this league. If you could obtain him by trading Ian while keeping Profar, I would do it.

6/90 is 15 a year which is about what we're paying Kinsler

and if you believe what others on here are saying that we have limited funds taking on this trade would kill any additional signings and we would be right where we were last year. an offense that can't get RISP home.

the more logical move would be to move either Andrus or Profar and pick up a Shelby Miller and either Craig or Adams

I'm right on the fence here. I don't want to strengthen the Tigers. I also wouldn't trade them for only 2 years of Max. That's why I'm not interested in trading for Price.

Ummm, you would be taking on the same amount of money. You are taking Ian's off for his. We would still be able to add bats.

It was just an idea. I doubt LAD would take on Ian's salary, or pick up that much of Kemp's remaining salary. I just have a feeling that Kemp will have a big year and I will be thinking we should've made an offer. Just like I did last year for CarGo.

That's still too much for just two years of Scherzer.

I wouldn't be interested in either Scherzer or Price unless we got at least 3 years out of them. The price for acquiring them is to high for a year or two.

Agreed. The only way I do that is if it is contingent on an extension.

I wonder if signing Ruiz makes more sense, or someone that will be a stop gap until Alfaro is ready. The kid looked pretty good today, and I'm sure Pudge will have him ready to go in less time.

Alfaro is two years away at minimum.

He didn't look to be more than 2 years away. That's what I'm saying. If he's ready to go in a few more years, why do we need to sign McCann for 5 years?

i'm with him on this i don't think Alfaro will be major league ready for a minimum of 2 years what do we do while we wait? 2 years down the road we bring him up use him and McCann as the catching tandem with McCann also being used in the DH role.

Because McCann can mentor Alfaro and split catching time with him when he comes up. He probably doesn't need to be "the guy" his first year up. As he matures into that role, McCann can take on more dh duties.
