you are really making a big assumption when you say that given full time playing time that Soto will replace AJ's power numbers, what are you basing this on?

his career?

Soto's 162 game average is 22 & 77 RBIs, 3 seasons of 17+ HRs in 6 years since becoming a regular player

AJP's 162 game average is 16 and 74 RBIs, seasons of 17+ in 13 years

Bs is what it looked like. How u been?

I've been fine. In and out of here with little to say 'cause they ain't much really going on. Thought these past meetings would bring something. Dec. 8 is the date. Winter meetings start. That's when the stove will be whistling.

I will say it's a shame I haven't heard any rumors on David Murphy. Sure hope that boy lands somewhere.

Soto easily replaces AJ's power numbers if playing full time, and Mitch replaced Napoli's power, just not his other attributes

The only guy not being replaced is Hamilton and maybe Cruz, an jury is still out there

hitting with RISP is not the same as power, Mitch has about the same power as Napoli but can't hit for squat with RISP

In the end, you don't lose much of anything on offense swapping Soto for AJP, except maybe a couple singles, but you gain in many other areas

Mitch and Napoli played together a lot of the time. Mitch and Napoli had 39 HR's together in 2012. Mitch had 23 by himself in 2013. How did Mitch replace Napoli's power? That's quite a stretch considering he was C, DH, and 1st.

I like Soto, but you can't just spread out his games over a full year and assume that's how many he would hit.

I didn't, he's had as many 17+ HR seasons as AJP has in fewer years, he has more power than AJP, only thing thats held him back is injuries

Moreland had 23 in 518 plate appearances (.206 ISO), Napoli 24 in 578 (.223) ISO

Not a huge difference power wise, but a big difference in the other aspects (RISP)

I agree that Soto has as much, or more power, but who knows how many he could hit in a full year. I think he could hit 25, but I'm not sure he'll get that opportunity.

I was having the conversation with JCouch earlier, and he was telling me that we don't need more power in the line-up. I don't know if you read it, but that's how it started.

You are missing my point. He didn't replace Nap. They were on the same team, then Napoli was deducted. We lost his production.

Sometimes guys think, "if he can do this over 3 weeks, imagine what he'd do over an entire season." It's kind of like taking an over the counter medication which recommends taking one every 6 hours. So gzee, I'll feel much better if I take one and hour until I get to feeling better. Neither one of these things works.

He's hit 23 in a full season, 17 in a full season twice, yeah I'd say he can do it now that he's healthy and gets a shot

fair enough, i get what you're saying, but considering that AJP essentially replaced Naps, and Soto is essentially replacing Napoli then, I'm good with that

Nobody is doing that, I offered that AND what Soto has done in a full season

Sometimes with guys like Gentry, partial seasons is all you have to base thing on, can't do anything about him not getting a shot

I understood what you were saying too, but the fact that they moved around so much makes it hard to determine. Either way we need more power in the line-up. Any combination of McCann, Beltran, Napoli, Granderson, Morales.

I'm ok with McCann, Napoli and Granderson/Cruz

Wasn't really referring to you. Just making a statement about projecting stats.

Problem is, that costs us 3 draft picks, no?

I think after you lose your 1st round pick all the other team gets is a sandwich pick for subsequent QO players, at least thas the way it reads to me

Can't lose a 1st round pick you no longer have

You can lose a 2nd round pick as well, but you gain a pick back if Cruz signs elsewhere

Not at all crazy. Just plain insane.

I mean Matt kemp was one of the best players in baseball not to long ago. I would do it in a heartbeat if you think that he is anywhere near the MVP form he had

his career?

AJP's 162 game average is 16 and 74 RBIs, seasons of 17+ in 13 years

Okay but you still assuming that he will automatically put up those same numbers it doesn't always work out that way.
