We still lack a #3 even with Cruz.
Craig could be the #3

I like it. I have Kinsler 1st because I am not sure RW will have it any other way to start the year. But it is all good.
Kinsler is still a good lead off hitter. Good obp, doesn't k much, and sees lots of pitches. Also, still an excellent base runner.
He's excellent at seeing pitches. Something I think is undervalued.
But his base running is abysmal. Last season he was 15 for 26 on steals and the year before was a wandering nomad while getting picked off.
There's more to base running than base stealing.
A few months ago there were an awful lot of guys posting that Cruz wouldn't get more than a 1 to 2 year deal. I honestly felt then some team, perhaps several would go up to 3, and so posted. Now it seems there may be an opportunity for him to get 4 easy.
Power bats are needed guys by most teams really. But I still think if the Rangers get aggressive, give him 3 years @ $40+ mil, with a decent option for year 4, he'll be ours.
Is that too high to y'all?
Granted.
But just for the record, from 2009-2011 he was 76-14 for SB. Would you make that same argument then?
This is when he made his reputation, and justifiably. But over the last 2 seasons he's looked awful IMO.
Dude, could you imagine a 3,4,5 of Beltran, Beltre, McCann?
No clue how Darvish didn't net at least ONE first place vote.
Less than 5% chance that happens lol
According to a report in the Dallas MN last summer when all the Arod being suspended for life talk was going on it was stated that the Rangers still owed him 40 million that could possibly grow to 50 by the time it gets paid off. It was further stated that they would still be on the hook for that amount even if he was banned for life. I'm not sure if this is included in payroll, but it's still a chunk of change that has to be paid by the team. I wonder what effect, if any, that this has on payroll going forward?
I dont feel that is accurate because everything that was talked about when A-rod opted out of his original contract after he was traded to the Yankees that we sign him to stated that the Rangers were no longer obligated to pay A-rod anything after that. Now whether they have his salary figured into a longer term plan that gives him money for many years in smaller amounts rather than a large sum im not sure, but that is not counted against the payroll because it was already factored in with his original contract.
It is very possible that we are still going to be paying what we owe to A-rod 20-30 years down the road, I think many players have their salaries structured like that, but that doesn't count against current payroll.
So you have Soto as the DH?
Sorry-as the catcher. DH split between McCann, Beltran and Craig.

If they spend the money it will take to get McCann, he better be behind the dish.
For all of you that are worried about Harrison, there's an article on ESPN Dallas about him. He's down about 10 pounds from his normal playing weight, and says last year left a bad taste in his mouth.

Wow, I didn't realize his normal playing weight was 250. That guy is a horse.
