Just out of curiosity, did anyone do the math on how many wins Gentry would have added over Murphy?
more times than I have fingers
link?
where's the sarcasm font? how about a color?
more times than I have fingers
Gentry 3.4 in 287 plate appearances
Murphy .4 in 476
Martin 2.7 in 508
Cruz 1.5 in 456
Rios 1.1 in 197
Thanks Wash!
Fangraphs
Decided to do our top 5 OFers in terms of plate appearances
Gentry had the most WAR in the 2nd fewest plate appearances
Unreal. Hopefully that has ended.
Thanks Wash!

A great deal of his value was derived from his defense. Had a pretty great DRS for the limited number of innings he played. If he were an everyday player, then he would easily have won a defensive award.

first I said GENTRY/Beltre, how about reading it correctly before you stop reading it.
second, why does everyone dismiss Gentry? He has yet to be given a full time shot yet he has been pretty productive with his playing time. Gets on base, steals, and very solid defense....why is he always overlooked as an option?
In addition he also tied with Cruz for the highest offensive portion to WAR, he was no one trick pony

Why did you leave off Beltre?
I was only doing the OFers

Edit. never mind. You meant for OFers. Rios had 10.5 for his entire season.
no, not a one trick pony...
Speed. Not to take away from his hitting, but this is a guy that hits (normally) infield outs for singles, and hits singles for doubles....and so on.
Not when weighing overall production for a player's season, no.Numbers for the White Sox are irrelevant
