I think the Rangers could match up well with STL... (for a trade)..

Profar/Andrus/Sardinas...

Taveras...
Miller/Martinez...

There are possibilities there....so I would not be that surprised if something ended up happening between the 2.

I don't. I think the offer would have to be far and away a "can't pass" offer, and I do not think STL is desperate enough to do that. If Andrus is traded, I think it would be after this season. STL wouldn't need him at that point.

STL doesnt have a long term option at SS.... and i'm sure they would have the $$$ to extend Elvis.

They aren't going to give up the farm for a soon to be FA, now if an extension is done beforehand its a different story

And it makes no sense to trade your heir to SS when your current SS is a soon to be FA

So while it makes sense, with no extension in place then the package will be significantly less

Holland had a good outing against Canada today. 5ip/2r/4h. Made a mistake to Saunders and gave up a two run dinger but was pretty solid other than that. Did a great job of getting our of a no outs runners on 2nd and 3rd jam Brandon Phillips and victorino put him in.

He was very close to having a typical "Holland" type of day. One where he lets everything get to him and he shuts down.

We all know the scenario - where Wash storms out of the dugout and rips Holland a new one.

He was on that level....but somehow battled back and didnt give up anything else. Improvement? Or just luck? Guess we'll see.

A bit of both. Pitch well to get out of a jam and got lucky when the batter missed an 0-2 fastball that was thrown right down the middle of the plate.

Through three spring starts, Darvish has a 1.04 ERA on five hits and 10 strikeouts. The hits today were the first ones he's given up all spring.

More importantly he only has 2 walks

And 2 of the 5 hits have been infield hits

Most "... importantly he only has 2 walks"

ST is for the most part for pitchers and UIFs trying to make rosters ... so need to take this all with a huge bag of salt.

Darvish in his second ST with 2BB and 10Ks in 8.2IP w/1ER ... a 5.0 K/BB rate doubles what he did for an entire season in his rookie year with a 2.48 K/BB rate ... even with his period of high BBs.

For 2012 Cliff Lee had the best K/BB rate (7.93) with Joe Blanton #2 (4.882).

I know it is just ST so tapping the brakes a bit but Darvish ST is in the top 6 by this measure for his IP. That portends well. So ... definitely most "... importantly he only has 2 walks".

(BTW Rick Portello has 14K, 0BB in 13.0IP) ... mmmm.

Took me a minute. Would be interesting to see *that* Beltre there. Ha.

That said, Engel pronounces it "Angel". Maybe thats where they got the A?

Yea. Saw that and figure that must be the explanation. Strange that the MLB computer didn't catch the mistake.

We don't need to see the real A. Beltre in RF. It is interesting seeing TEX top contending SUPER UIF batting cleanup. Baker is certainly redefining what we've come to expect from a Super UIF ... that is compared to the last one who had that title.

Ogando looked solid today, 4 IP, 2 hits, 0 runs, 3BB and 3K

like to see fewer walks but much improved
