Perez had a good first outing today. 2IP/2K No runs, hits, or walks, with 10 pitches, all of them strikes.

Grimm not so much.

2ip/4 hits/ 3R/3ER/1BB/15 pitches, 10 for strikes.

Oops, looks like game tracker is messing up. Perez threw 20 or so pitches, not sure how many on Grimm.

Per Evan: (Perez's line) 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 Ks. 27 pitches - 16 for strikes

I'm hoping Perez grabs hold of the #5 spot and does well. Come May-June (when Colby comes back)....the Rangers might have a *good* "problem" on their hands.

Hoping Colby comes back ready to be in a big league rotation in may is probably a bit optimistic.

Not sure where this belongs but thought you guys might be amused that Cliff Lee feels the need to badmouth your organization. Is it any of his damned business?

Cliff Lee ?baffled? at the way the Rangers treated Michael Young | HardballTalk

Lee obviously doesn't have a clue. Young played more than he should have and held a place in the batting order that he shouldn't have. It's just a matter of time before everybody finds out that he can't play third base and they will be stuck with his poor range without the DH. Lee will be chirping a different tune in July when they begin to find out what PADMY stands for.

The few times I saw Grimm last year, once in person, he didn't show much. Hard to see him keeping Perez out of the rotation unless Perez just can't throw strikes. I also have little faith in Holland who needs to get his act together because pitchers like Buckel, Tepesch, Perez and the likes will be putting some serious heat on him in the next year or two.

don't forget Ross, I don't think he's destined for the bullpen

Ross is as much likely to put the heat on Holland as he is in just taking the #5 spot away from Perez.

That's a good thing having some hungry guys not just acceptable ones trying to get a spot in the 5 man.

If there is a route to the rotation through the bullpen ... that's not lost on they guys in A+ and AA.

I have this feeling we are going to be very happy with TEX pitching coming out of ST. Probably a surprise or two.

Rough first Spring outing for Buckel.
5 walks, a passed ball and a ground out. In a 1/3 of an inning.

Realize nerves got the best of him - but yikes.

I did forget about Ross and that's another arm that will be pushing Holland to reach his potential.

I hope so, but it's getting to be time for him to find some consistency for a full season.

How old were Lee and Verlander when they finally found "it".

Ross is a really interesting talent as far as being a starter for us.

Verlander has essentially always had "it". He had 1 bad year in 08.... But since he came onto the scene in 06 - he has been nails.

Lee? Different story. Of course, he had all the issues with his son having cancer and what not... but Lee was around 28-29 when he became what he is today.
