Hadn't read that. In any case ... I'd expect CHW to resign him.

CHW are probably the only team that would sign him.

He is the most hated player in all of baseball. He hates Ron Washington for not selecting him to the all-star team. He's an American Leauger and rooted for the Cards against the Rangers as a World Series analyst last year. Can't imagine him ever playing for the Rangers in a million years.

Nice that they made the offer ... hope it isn't just a PR thing.

Would be interesting to know he is to earn those incentives above the base. If he pushes to come back early to earn them it could literally end his career.

I don't ever remember anyone coming back from arm/shoulder surgery early and successfully.

The optimistic side of me would say "there has to be a first time for everything", but the realistic side of me realizes that if we get much out him before the ASB next year it will be a miracle.

He'll be the mid-season acquisition next year.

Story out about $10M in proposed upgrades to the stadium. Hearing they want to add an extra row behind home plate, spruce up some concession areas, and other updates.

I'd be happier with a little more leg room in certain sections...

But yeah, heard this story on the news last night.

I'd like more armrest room. Guess I'll just have to spend more time standing :)

These Upgrades to the Ballpark are necessary. It doesn't take that long for any venue to become run down. When the Rangers were in Bankruptcy back in 2010 there was a lot of upgrades that needed to be done to the Ballpark. They replaced the scoreboard and many new concessions. Now there going to do more. Its the Little things like the Plumbing of the Restrooms and Painting the Poles. But after only 15 -16 Years the Ballpark needed Renovations.

Fenway is so Overrated. But the Red Sox Fans signed a Petition a few Years back and prevented the Team from getting a New Ball Park. But as a Venue its lacks all the Modern conviences of the Newer Parks. Wrigley Field in Chicago is much the same way. In those Parks Fans have to do without.

Outside of Cliff Lee this team has not had a #1 starter in 3 years. Rediculous.

Off the top of my head for solid #1's in the AL: Only Seattle was not a contender.

NY - Sabathia
Balt - Nobody
A's - Nobody but Parker may be it next year
Tampa - Price
Detroit - Verlander
White Sox - Sale
LA - Weaver
Seattle - Hernandez
Tex - Darvish (walks too many) has potential for #1
- Harrison (has meltdown games back to back or three times in a row too many times) solid #2.

I know #1's don't grow on trees but something has to be done and sooner than later to take this team to the next level.

some here believe that we don't really need a true #1

Look at the way Darvish has pitched down the stretch. I believe we have one.

well i don't see any FA's that would qualify as a #1, so who would you trade for and what would you give up to get him?

Price is probably your best bet and it will cost you out the ass to get him. Bet on Olt to start with, maybe Martin.

Nobody has ever said that, people have said the price to get somebody else's #1 is not worth it in terms of prospects, or its not worth the payroll inflexibility to sign a 30+ #1 who may just fall off the "cliff," once we throw big money at them

That group in the AL were all brought up from those teams minor league systems outside of Sabathia, who was so young when he was initially a FA that it was worth the money to a contender like the Yanks to throw money at him

knowing Tampa they are going to look to trade either Price or Shields this off-season and either will cost an arm and leg

I'm not sure either would be worth the asking price, but damn it would be nice to see price in a rangers uni.

Shields might yield a couple nice prospects but he won't cost an arm or a leg, what teams have to do is determine if Shields is an upgrade over what they have and is it worth the price
