I'm not sure either would be worth the asking price, but damn it would be nice to see price in a rangers uni.
agreed about price. i'd love to see him and darvish together on the rangers

Shields might yield a couple nice prospects but he won't cost an arm or a leg, what teams have to do is determine if Shields is an upgrade over what they have and is it worth the price
well i think Tampa will expect more than a couple of nice prospects for him. i could be wrong but they probably wouldn't listen unless an Olt or Profar were part of the deal for either Shields or Price
For Shields I laugh hysterically and then just hang up
For Price, I send Olt in a heart beat, but give a big hell no to Profar
not sure that the rangers could get either but aside from record Price 20-5 and Shields 15-11 they're fairly close in numbers.
Innings Price 211.0 Shields 227.2
Hits 173 208
Strikeouts 205 223
WHIP 1.10 1.17
BAA .226 .239
ERA 2.56 3.52
Earned Runs 60 89
Runs allowed 63 103
rather have Price but would not complain if the Rangers got Shields as long as the price wasn't too high.
With Shields you always have risk of a blowup year, which he was having this year, he must be pitching lights out since the trading deadline
Shields is far more hittable than Price and older, but is more of a workhorse
Price has only given up 3 unearned runs this season while Shields has given up 14. look at tonite, he struck out 15, gave up 2 hits and lost 1-0

whats funny is you think I'm looking at record, which I'm not, this just shows that Shield's ERA could be higher
Scotty has a nasty habit of using a pitchers record to determine how good he thinks they are.
what do you base your opinion on if you don't look at their numbers? and i don't mean their records.

I do look at their numbers and it was you who earlier in the season saying cliff lee wasn't that good of a pitcher because he didn't have a win.
am i the only one who is not allowed to express an opinion without having you slamming it? i said his numbers stunk and he wasn't the same pitcher that he had been in previous seasons
So just because I say you're opinions are wrong because they're based in the wrong data I'm an asshole? No, it's called a logical discussion. Grow the hell up.
Price is probably your best bet and it will cost you out the ass to get him. Bet on Olt to start with, maybe Martin.
I wasn't talking about the price/shields comparison. Just making a point that you've put stock incorrectly into a pitchers record before.
okay, but hasn't everyone?
Umm no. Those if use that actually understand baseball know that a pitcher's win loss record is the least of things you consider when evaluating a pitcher's quality.
