I'm not anyways. He does what he can to help his team, not every one his so light they would not make an adequate paper weight so every time they are looked at they move enough to get a call.

I am just saying he is far from the worst or only player who flops.

you beat me to it, but i'm with you...

it's sickening to me how many of these guys justify cheating...

Didn't justify it, but EVERYONE has done it in the heat of the moment (if you are a competitor). There is a way variety of definitons of flopping. I will say I have never fell of purpose to draw a foul, but I wasn't facing 6'8" or 6'9" physical competitors that could move me with a twig.

Fouling and getting away with it is much worse and that shit happens all the time.

No.

If you're not good enough to ball, stay the fuck off the court.

That's a stupid statement. Professionals flop. Are you suggesting they are not good enough?

Get out of here internet tough guy.

So you're suggesting players flop because they're better than the opposition? How often do you see a player flop when their team is up by 20?

When you flop, the word "professional" goes out the window.

But i'm sure you wouldn't know anything about that... :L

It's still no different then claiming you were fouled when you weren't,
claiming you didn't foul when you know you did,
saying you didn't touch a ball last when you know you did, etc.., etc...

The only player I have ever seen that tried to be honest is the kid in the high school commercial about sportsmanship.

It's not realistic.

The problem is that many of the posters on this thread have backed themselves into a corner where they can't be truthful.

You can't spend months painting out "flopping" to be the most evil, disgraceful, immoral, iniquitous act a human being can make in his life, and then turn around and admit that you'd do it.

So take a lot of the answers on here with a giant grain of salt.

I used to work security as Joe Dumar's field house and all the brothers there took their game very seriously. Never in several years did I ever see any players flop. When I'd get in there w them I played defense Rodman style and just passed the ball off to the dudes who could dunk.

Are you talking pick-up ball? In my many years of playing pick-up ball, I've never seen someone flop. I couldn't imagine the humiliation if someone tried flopping to get a blocking call.

Yeah pick up ball is completely different animal than organized basketball. Offensive fouls don't exist, you'd be laughed out of the gym if you tried to call one. Plus there are no refs to attempt to deceive, your opponent will know whether he made significant contact with you or not. Silly comparison.

Had to fix that.

I used to play a lot of pick up ball and in rec leagues. I never flopped in pick up ball, but in the league games with refs, heck yes I flopped a few times. The idea is to win and if I could get an advantage for my team by making some ref think I was fouled when I wasn't, good for my team.

The way I see it, until the NBA gets serious about stopping it, players are going to do it. As a player, your job is to do what you can to give your team an advantage. It's no different than holds, hooking with the arm on a drive, etc. and getting away with it.

I haven't read through this thread but here's my position......here's what I hate, for example if someone taps me on the face, or their shoulder just so happens to graze my face, there is NO WAY that i'm flapping all over the place to get a call like that....HOWEVER, if I'm stepping in to take a charge or if I'm going up for a shot while getting contact, you better believe that I'm selling that call to the best of my ability. I don't like it when players like Battier get away with it...but I can logically understand the motive behind selling those calls

Anyone that voted no is not being truthful. If you played organized ball you know flopping is part and parcel of the game. I just don't like the real obvious flops. At least make sure there is some contact.

Some of us had self respect while playing organized basketball.
