The Q
Hoop’s Villain, Reality’s Hero
I had keldon and 8 as the offer
Maybe it’s keldon and their 2025?
Maybe it’s keldon and their 2025?
How about this:Cmon man.
Cleveland comes to SA with that deal?
They say no.
Reverse?
Cleveland says yes.
Not going to happen.
How about this:
When we see who goes 1-3 you will be able to select any remaining player in this draft for the SA Spurs and then we will compare this player to Garland over the next 3-4 years. We will also keep in mind that the Spurs are likely to be a team that is working hard to get to the cap floor because of their rebuild.
We can take all of that under consideration when we compare. We can assess things from the stand point of value. No deal.
I am not saying that player is going to be better.
I am saying that player is cheaper and under team control for the next 8 years.
That matters.
Especially when we are talking about a player like Garland who is nothing special.
The value is a pick.We can take all of that under consideration when we compare. We can assess things from the stand point of value.
Nope. What’s on the table now is more of a known. It’s the 4th pick in the 2024 draft. The value is a pick.
A pick is a blank canvas that is worth more than the player who is ultimately taken with that pick.
Haha! Says who? That’s exactly the discussion we are having. We aren’t talking about some random future draft pick. We are talking about this year’s number 4 pick in the draft. Are you not following the discussion that the three of us were having when you chimed in? I welcome the participation but you can’t change the rules in the middle of the discussion.Incorrect

The Cavs aren’t shipping off Garland with the major prize being the 4th pick in this year’s draft and salary filler.
It was the hypothetical we were discussingAnd the Spurs aren’t trading their 4th overall pick for Garland.
So why are we talking about this?
Yes.It was the hypothetical we were discussing
And that’s why we will see and I’ll mock you for 4-5 years. I’m giving you a pick to hitch your saddle to from 4 until the rest of the draft. If you don’t take it I’ll just assign you who the Spurs draft. And we will compare the value of that player on that contract to Garland on his. Easy peasy.Yes.
A dumb one.
And when @DJ said as much, you teamed up with Shane.
Garland does not have as much trade value as you apparently think he does. He is solid, not great player on a long term $40 million a year contract.
No chance the Spurs give up a top 5 lotto pick in any draft, regardless how weak to land that.

I don't think the trade claim is that Garland has good trade value, it is that this draft has less value.Yes.
A dumb one.

I don’t disagree but it’s just gonna be mean to keep teasing the guy when it’s evident early into this thing.Except it’s those first 7-9 years plus the cap space difference

What does “value” mean to you? When I chose that word I did so purposefully so that we could compare the whole situation. Not how it works and you know it.
Completely failing to factor in the contract.

Excuse me? Oy vey.Trade value man.
That is what we are talking about.
I am not even sure Garland is a positive asset at this point.
And we will see who that player is. You keep thinking this is a generic draft. The number 4 pick most certainly is.
Because the player taken is going to be a lot cheaper and the team will be able to control the contract for 8 more years.
I think Garland’s speed pairs very very well around Wemby. I think that pick and roll pair could be absolutely deadly. It’s the Cavs who won’t see the value of the 4th pick in THIS draft.Garland is an RFA in 3 and already making a lot of $.
Spurs would never do this.
