As you said: "It's not my job to make calls". If a player flops, it's up to the ref to catch it. No different than missing holding or hooking calls.

Yes, it is. You're trying to make the calls for him.

No, I'm trying to gain an advantage for my team, just like a players who commits a holding or hooking foul that isn't called.

The only person that can make the call is the ref. Not my job to convince him I was not fouled.

Yes you do if you want a 3 point play. They only give you 2 for anything inside the arc without a foul.

Make all the excuses you want. There's no respect to be had in flopping. I can't stop you or anyone else from doing it. But I chose not to myself.

Not looking for the opponents respect. Trying to beat you. If we win I get the respect of my teammates.

Plenty went my way by not flopping.

Not really unless you mean by plenty went your way as getting a long rest on the bench. I would rather play and help my teammates win than pick splinters out my ass on the bench.

Any coach I ever had would bench you in a heartbeat if you flopped.

If a coach will bench you for not being a little bitch, they're a joke too.

Exactly. Seems like some folks want to "take the high road", just not all the way.

If you've ever hooked a player with your off arm on a drive to the hoop or held a player on defense, the refs didn't call it and you didn't self report it to make it right..........you cheated.

You cheated because you knowingly gained an unfair advantage.

And don't get me wrong, I hate all of the flopping and wish it would go away forever, especially the little or no contact flops. However, as I said in a previous post, until the NBA truly gets serious about putting a stop to it, it's going to happen.

Has an official ever changed a call when someone admitted to it? You can't call your own fouls.

I don't know as that anyone has ever admitted it (at least during the game).

However, admitting to the ref that you got away with a foul or telling him that the opponent didn't foul you isn't calling your own fouls. It's simply being honest and letting the ref know what happened. What the ref does from there is up to him.

The point is that it literally does nothing. It's a waste of time. There is no advantage to be gained by not telling the ref you fouled someone; you're just not wasting anyone's time.

Ya, I guess I agree somewhat. However, the difference to me is that hooking a guy doesn't make you look like a bitch. Flopping because you can't take some contact does. Especially when you are a beast like LeBron. That's just chump shit to me.

i dont think that was BK's point. i think he just wanted to know how here would flop if they played. fans, including myself, hate flopping. but if i was in the NBA.. i would do it. it's helping your team win, and that is your job.

i hate it.. but i dont hate it that much when lebron and wade are shooting free throws.

I doubt I would because if you don't get the call you've made the opposition's job that much easier.

There are, in other words, practical as well as ethical reasons for not flopping. And some reason for refs toswallow the whistle in debatable situations.
