It’s not rocket science. Love of hate LeBron, we all fell into bad habits after he went to Miami. Instantly we made analogies “Player X is too good for this city” and “this team must tank for the next LeBron and any chance at winning”.Oh, so just you saying something stupid.
Figures.
There is a big, big difference between teaching kids and professional athletic leagues. That is not even comparing things in the same galaxy. It’s not rocket science. Love of hate LeBron, we all fell into bad habits after he went to Miami. Instantly we made analogies “Player X is too good for this city” and “this team must tank for the next LeBron and any chance at winning”.
Next thing you know championships were the only thing that mattered. LeBron was only validated by titles, and likewise your team was only validated if it beat LeBron for the title.
Dame said last spring before his trade demand “we can’t keep pretending the journey doesn’t matter”. And seeking opinions, how could you possibly blame him? Hence, the HS style in-season tournament to place more interest in the regular season.
We all want to see our teams win titles. I want the Nuggets to repeat. But there aren’t 29 failures in the NBA every year. Sticking w/ the HS in-season theme, could you imagine if we taught our kids that now matter how hard they play, that they’d be failures in they didn’t win their sectional bracket?
As a society we all need to be better.
