The Rangers will try to win another series this weekend against a formidable opponent. The Rays are 4-2 coming into this series.

The Rangers will send out Mahle, deGrom and Rocker. Mahle and Rocker will each have to be much better than they were the first time they took the mound if the Rangers are to have a chance to win those games.

The Rays three starters have ERAs of 1.50, 3.00, and 0.00. It should be noted that the Rays have faced Colorado and Pittsburgh to begin the season. Both of those teams finished in the bottom half in team hitting last year, so we might need to take their ERAs with a grain of salt.

It is time for the Rangers to start hitting. I know it is early, but this poor hitting goes back well beyond the beginning of this season.

From what I heard, Marcus Semien was supposed to get Wednesday's game off until Seager needed a day off. Let's see if Semien gets tonight off, instead.

The Rays scheduled starting pitchers are all right handed, so it looks like we will get a full dose of Leody Taveras this weekend, and no Kevin Pillar. It may be time to move Langfird to CF and let Smith play LF.

From Baseball America’s article about Sebastian Walcott:

“I’m trying to dominate,” Walcott said. “I’m trying to play my game and not worry so much about callups or anything like that. I’m trying to dominate every day and remain consistent.”

From Jamey Newberg:

AA, A+, and A kick off their seasons tonight. Let’s go, Sebastian, Malcolm, and Yeremi.

John Moore said he taked to Sborz recently and Sborz has started throwing. He hasn't been on a miund yet, but the process has reached the throwing stage. Hopefully, he will be ready some time in June.

Maybe Bradford in mid-May and Sborz and Gray in Jume.

Sure dont want to burn the pen this first gsme of the series

I would prefer someone else besides Rocker but looks like Corbin is on his way

Also wonder if anything else said about Leiter blister. Wonder when Jung is due back
Thinking maybe Duran is a guy who goes to AAA. He has gone downhill in a hurry

I think they will always have 2 backup MIF on the team. The only alternative to Duran is Ornelas and he hits worse than Ezequiel.

I want to see Ricker one more time. Of course, a lot of that may be that I have almost zero faith in Corbin

I wonder how good Rocker would have to be this weekend to keep Corbin out of the rotation.

Don’t disagree but Duran has more topside and think he might find it back in AAA
Plus been a little shaky defensively lately

He would have to throw his FBs for solid strikes. Maybe with some more movement
A lot less hard hit balls
Limit his walks and go at least 5 innings with 2 or less runs but really are we not trying to limit his innings anyways

However without Gray or Cody I can see it is now considered go time

If they could hide Ornelas on the bench, then that could happen. Right now with Seager and Jung banged up, they can't hide him. Even if they were healthy, Josh Smith being needed in the OF might keep the other backup MIF from being able to be hid. When Jung comes back, Smith may see a lot more time in the OF.

The starters in our AA, A×, and A games will be W Santos, David Davalillo and Caden Scarborough.

Ross Fenstermaker has said that Davalillo could be the breakout pitcher in the organization this year.

All three of these starting pitchers have the chance to have very good years this season. There are some folks who think Caden Scarborough is turning into a very special pitcher.

Meanwhile Brock Porter is not pitching until next Wednesday for Low-A Hickory.
