I really think it would be smart to sign the best FA kicker on the market
Yep. Maher had a big portion of the fan base fooled. Money Maher turned into bad Maher. He choked at the end. Can't have that in the playoffs

Two names I hope fall, who probably wont.

Bijan Robinson and Calijah Kancey.

Also if Michael Mayer is there at 27 I'll step away from my anti Notre Dame bias.

Draft related thoughts:
Depth at edge/DE appears to me to be better than any other position. TEs are second. I feel like Cowboys need to grab one of each just to take advantage. Tank is headed into his last season with guaranteed money. How much longer will we keep him/he stay healthy? Days 1 and 2 will be dominated by ends/edges. Round 4 & 5 there will still be good players.

We already know Schultz is gone. The fun name to kick around is Darnell Washington because he's a unicorn. Slept on TE in this draft is Will Mallory. He is a better Dalton Schultz, better than some guys ranked ahead of him. Washington, Mayor, and Kincaid are better, but that's all. If we don't want to pay a premium price, that's the guy.

I don't think Robinson will be there. I think it would take a 3rd to move up and get him. RB shelf life makes that a tough deal to make but he might be special enough to do it. I also think the Gibbs kid will be a great RB early. There are a lot of day 2 kids who could be starter level, the Evans kid, Spears, and the TCU back.
My 1st round hope is moving round to Dalton Kincaid, who is a matchup problem at TE, or the IOL from Minnesota or TCU

I'm all over the lot when it comes to pick 26.
Can not overlook Bijan if he's there.
BUT...I would not kick & cuss if they took TE's Kincade or Washington.
I'd also be real happy with the Bama Safety, Brian Branch.

Would you not want the TE's because of the position or because you don't feel the players are 1st round kids?

I like the Kincaid fit in WCO. I wonder if he will still be there for us. I also think Bijan will be long gone by 26. I like both IOL guys you mention, but I wonder how Dallas really sees Tyler Smith. Will they keep him inside? One RB that I don't think is getting enough buzz is Israel Abanikanda out of Pitt U. Good size, more of a smooth running RB, not a blazer or banger. Might be a 3rd or 4th round guy.

I would keep Tyler at LT without question and make Tyron the swing

I am a big proponent of never drafting a TE in the 1st round myself. but if we do be at the end of the 1st (which is where we are at)
Think it is absolutely dumb to draft TEs in the top half of the 1st round.

I would agree if we are talking about a position limited TE (only a Y, only an H). If you got the right guy, and his college production is off the charts along with size/strength/speed and you can line him up at Y, H, split him out wide and just mismatch your way down the field with him, I would take that kind of guy top 5. Hard to see that guy ever being used in college as anything other than a downfield threat because he would be too valuable to make him a Y and have him block ends. You would just stick him out wide and let the defense try to stop that with inferior DBs/LBs.

D. Washington is the closest thing to having the size/strength/speed that I've ever seen. But he does not have the production to warrant such a high pick, but his teammate did. So if he was that guy, shouldn't he have had better numbers? So we go into the draft not knowing what he can be, but he sure looks like what I described. There are glimpses of that guy (the one handed catches both in the season and at the combine. I fully expect him to be picked right behind us and I hope he doesn't make us all wish we took him like Moss did.

I watched Utah-USC game when Kincaid had like 16 catches for 200+ yards. Kid looked like a college version of Travis Kelce. I think he is gonna be a Heck of a pro

Except that once in a great blue moon (Tony G. 13th pick) We often hear the next big thing Vernon Davis comes to mind. & it never turns out that way. Kyle Pitts was a cant miss draft pick. While some of these TEs may turn out to be decent players. Not even close to using a top ten pick on them. Might get some mileage in the last 3rd of the 1st round. So needless to say. Me personally. I am against drafting TEs in the 1st round ever.

2021 4th pick Kyle Pitts Atl. (still early but to me not worth the spot)
2019 8th pick TJ Hockenson Det. (not worth it for the team that drafted him)
2019 20th pick Noah Fant Den. (not worth a 1st, but at least it was the 20th)
2018 25th pick Hayden Hurst Bal.
2017 19th pick OJ Howard TB (another hyped player...oops)
2017 23rd pick Evan Engram NYG
2017 29th pick David Njoku Cle
2014 10th pick Eric Ebron Det
2013 21st pick Tyler Eifert Cin
2010 21st pick Jermaine Gresham Cin
2009 20th pick Brandon Pettigrew Det
2008 30th pick Dustin Keller NYJ
2007 31st pick Greg Olsen Chi (well worth it but unfortunately for another team)
2006 6th pick Vernon Davis SF
2006 28th pick Marcedes Lewis Jax
2005 30th pick Heath Miller
2004 6th pick Kellen Winslow Jr. Cle (major hype ...oops)
2004 32nd pick Ben Watson NE
2003 24th pick Dallas Clark IND
2002 14th pick Jeremy Shockey NYG
2002 21st pick Daniel Graham NE
2002 28th pick Jerramy Stevens Sea
2001 32nd pick Todd Heap Bal
2000 14th pick Bubba Franks GB
2000 27th pick Anthony Becht NYJ

that is the 1st round picks of the 2000's All the hyped TEs have never lived up even close to the hype.
Some of these guys are actually decent players, but no way I use the top half of the 1st round to land a decent player.
Yeah I could stomach getting some of these guys in the last 3rd of the 1st round though. Never know. You could land your Greg Olsen.
But generally speaking. I would never draft a TE in the 1st round. But that's just me.

I hear what you're saying and I'm with you UNTIL the physical talent, great production and versatility are all present. I remember Shockey was all 3. A lot of these guys were just athletic marvels with little production, or they were just a Y and could not detach or only an H and lost on the line. Jury is still out on Pitts, but even he is not built like a Y TE, so he's what I call position limited. Hockenson didn't have much college production, so not sure why 600-700 yards for him is considered poor.

I know some of these guys had a hard NFL life without decent QB play. Sometimes the drafting team had a lot to do with the player not living up to the draft pick. And quite a few teams fell victim to the combine circus.
