They hope, initially it was a first, then a second, now were at a 3rd.........i would think so........but it just keeps dragging....and the price keeps dropping.......

I'm saying a 3rd at worse....I would have to believe a team like CLE (need a LT) would be willing to part with 3/74 for TW...but not if he only wants to play for $20 mil

CLE offered a 2nd many times and WAS refused (this was during the season though). The funny thing is now if a 2nd was offered they should probably take it and run...and they could be offering a 2nd still BUT Trent asking for so much could be a whole different issue and it affects WAS as well. Yeah, no way they cut him and no way he sits out anymore.

but hes still a starting corner, surely could of got a bit more........

You're correct on getting more which it makes it mind boggling the Skins settled for a 5th. That's some Bill O'Brien type stuff. Good for Seattle.

Yeah. They have no need to cut him. I guess TW can retire if he really doesnt like it. (like Sanders did)
I would tell that agent to pound sand. he isnt getting cut & he isnt getting 20 mil per.

I do agree with SteelerP...Williams is doing damage to his trade value with his salary demand...he knows no one is going to pay him that kind of money now...so if you want to play, take the $12.5 mil and get an extension next year that might get you close, else STFU.

As an expected starter...a 2nd is still in play imo, but 3rd would be a "worst case" was my point.

TW should look at Whitworth...the old man just made another $12.5 mil guaranteed on a 3/30 deal....Williams is 31/32...Whitworth is 38. If TW plays this season, almost a lock he'll get another FA deal.

That is probably starting to sink in, maybe. Players routinely over estimate their value on the market. They don't/won't adjust their value for things like age, injuries, off field trouble, not being a team player etc. It's almost comedy to hear players state what they think they are worth money wise to a team. It's almost universal in the league. They can be really stubborn about it to boot and feel if they just stand their ground their dream will come true. Occasionally the dream happens, but that is the exception.

I do think since he still has a year on his deal he should be patient and wait..and if he plays like a very good or great LT I wouldn't have a problem with him making $15M per year with nice guaranteed.

BUT I also understand why he wants a long-term deal...seems like he has been through shit the last couple years whether it WAS' staff fault or not, he just wants to be secure with his contract in case he has future complications. Still he is being way to unrealistic and like others said, his agent is partly to blame and making Trent looks bad in a sense.

Players will always overestimate what they are worth, but that is normal. His agent needs to be a good agent. I understand both are upset at the organization and that is fair but if he indeed wants to be traded, be realistic, nobody is paying him $20M,

Agents that tell clients they aren't worth the money the player feels he's worth face the possibility of getting fired. With time Williams will come around, I would think. Could take a while though for that to happen.

or maybe the agent & TW think they can force a release by being a dick about his demands (20 mil) to keep from being traded. So he can control where he goes.
I personally think it will backfire if this is the case.
but it is the redskins so who knows?

It isn't about telling him he isn't worth that much...it's about telling him what is important. Long-term and guaranteed. Now these are just rumors, this could just be a ploy to play the waiting game....we really don't know much at this point. You always start out high.

Thus far Williams and his agent been behaving on that front. However seeing how Dunbar got his way by shitting on the Redskin through social media, I expect that is the next step for Williams and his agent. I bet they think if a team doesn't have to trade for Williams that he can get that 20 million contract. Think they would find that's wrong though.

I think if he got his release. he would sign in a place he liked for less. Think the 20 is a ploy to get released. he has to know (at least the agent has to know) he isnt worth or get 20.

Agree 100 with the 1st paragraph...at 32, he could play another 4 or 5 years if his health holds up.

TW, has cashed near $100mil life time so for. Whatever he makes from here forward should just be padding his retirement.

Since he already forfeited his salary LY...imo that's one reason he wants to play this season....initially stating he was "okay" playing for the new HC...maybe he didn't feel the love from Rivera and suddenly he wants $20 mil per. If I'm WAS, I will listen to offers but I would make it clear to TW...your '20 salary is not going to change here. If you want it to change...find a team that will pay you and give us a pick...to help you out, we'll even take a 3rd rounder.
