I agree and that's even if they were to trade for Trent imo. Get a guy that can play G or T. If Trent is healthy is one of the best in the league but no paying $20M/year that is for damn sure. Giving up the 2nd or 3rd wouldn't be the problem
I bet the Browns could get him to settle for a more reasonable amount of money. Doubt he wants to go through another wage war and all it entails.

Thing is they have:
1) The need for a LT
2) The cap space to give TW a nice contract
3) abundance of draft picks with the full complement of 7 picks plus a extra 3rd

Maybe it's about haggling for the best terms for the Browns?

Well like you said (I think you said), the Skins have a history of asking for too much and then it exploding their face. They seem stubborn so I don't see this being resolved anytime soon and it looks really want a 2nd

Absolutely, front load the contract and give him a bunch of guaranteed money. Plus, the Browns have some studs to pay on defense starting next year: Garrett, Ward, LarryO. I don't see $20M being realistic

More I think on it , the more I'm sure he is going to be on the Browns. Just makes to much sense all the way around. Just need to get the haggling done with.

You would think, thought this for months but the Skins were being difficult. That's why I am hoping they just get this deal done, don't want another team to get him. I'm thinking the team that gets him ends up extending him for $15-16M/year

As a FF player and a Chubb owner I'm all for making the Browns OL excellent. Make it happen.:D

Chubb’s value has only gone up since Conklin so I cant imagine if they got Trent. TW, Bitonio, Tretter, #10 or Hubbard, Conklin. That’s pretty solid when healthy

Hooper and the full back what's his name should help also. Nab TW and it's gold.

Absolutely, FB mainly then just another weapon for Baker and open up the running game. The season Chubb had with that OL was damn good last year, cant imagine him with a great OL

The Redskins have a floor with that comp pick. Think they plan to stand firm on receiving a second, but who knows if they stick to that plan. Doubt even the Redskins truly know, but they have been bull headed about "winning" the battles with players in the past so IDK.

Yeah I gotcha there...as I understand this, the floor comp pick is '22 as he wouldn't hit the FA market until spring of '21.

I think the market could easily move in the 'Skins favor should they hold firm and wait (camp injury etc.) maybe they get the 2nd rounder in '21...For me, I would take 2 birds in hand now and move on with an extra 3rd rd pick in this draft.

between a 3rd & a worse 3rd. I would rather send the message dont play silly games to get your release. Just gonna cost you money in the end.
TW is never getting the money he has lost back. At this point. the skins made their bed (should have moved him last season) Now stick to your guns unless you like the trade value.

The new CBA is more penal to holdouts these days so I'm not that concerned about sending messages.

To this in bold...yes indeed.

Interesting...2 vet RTs now.

Does Hubbard move to the left side?...If not, he seems like an expensive depth player now.

Yeah no details on the restructure but if they were to draft a LT or trade for Trent they would have a lot of money tied up into 3 T's. My guess is he will move to RG, which would be easily their weakest spot on the OL when they get a LT.

Well...PIT is the king of restructuring contracts....unless it's an extension, the money remains the same, mostly moving it around and in doing so, more guaranteed money for the player. So...the possibility of him moving inside to G is very real. Something to watch because I don't think Hubbard is a LT.

Yeah I always thought of him as more of RT or G anyway. The move to guard makes sense bc if he was just a backup I would cut him

Yeah, but PIT dealt with a lot of stuff with Brown while the season was going on, some just never hit the media. Remember...PIT had a 1st round pick secured from BUF before OAK.

The real issue in both cases...a top tier player...in spite of the headache he's worth more than a 4th/5th if healthy.
agreed....idea Steelers would be above this was a little absurd.

something also tells me Ben is not a treat to have around.

They hope, initially it was a first, then a second, now were at a 3rd.........i would think so........but it just keeps dragging....and the price keeps dropping.......
Possible we don't have the first clue what has been offered or what they want. If you didn't hear it come out of the FO mouth it's not really proof.

These guys are like the CIA when it comes to these things.
