I'm just glad we arent LA and grabbed 3 average players over the last 3 years.
That's funny, I'm just glad we aren't the 6ers who haven't been over .500 in the last 10 years.

Maybe it's just me, but winning two out of three Titles chances in the last 10 years seems way better! :D

Here is a thought:

Since Lavar insists that he and his son will deal with no one but the Lakers, wouldn't the smart thing to do is draft someone else or gather other assets with the #2 pick, and then try to trade for Lonzo for 50 cents on the dollar when Lavar throws a huge media fit and does not allow his son to sign or go to camp for whomever drafts him?

It is risky but it worked for Manning in the whole Manning/Rivers fiasco.

Because when you collect talent you can trade them away for talent. When you draft for need your chance of selecting a bust goes up. Id didnt work with Noel or Okafor but the Sixers had them ranked higher on their boards then the other players. Luckily it looks like they got great value getting Saric who was a mid first round pick and better then anyone on the Lakers. Then they hit big time on Embiid who the Lakers could only dream of having and hopefully Simmons turns out to be a stud too. I'm just glad we arent LA and grabbed 3 average players over the last 3 years.

There you go again with the bitterness. You need to have a coke and a smile, sunshine!

Huh. No shit. We've sucked since we swept you in the 83 finals. I'm talking about TODAY.

ok...

as of TODAY neither team is in the playoffs. but DO continue trying to bag on the Lakers and their "average" draft picks...:rolleyes2:

I stopped taking him seriously after he said Saric was better than anyone on the Lakers.

I mean, there's being a homer and there's being a moron....

Except that the Sixers haven't done. Also, who wants guys who can't shoot and can't stay healthy?

When you draft for need your chance of selecting a bust goes up.

That's not correct at all. When you draft for need, you are drafting for a specific set of skills that you need to improve your team. The chance of selecting a bust goes up when you draft a guy that may not fit your team or may not get a lot of playing time because he's redundant.

Look at your own Sixers. They've gone for the best available in how many drafts now and they have a logjam of bigs (some of whom can't be on the court together) and a bunch of guys who can't shoot.

Seriously?!? The guy averaged what? 12 points? On 41% shooting. That's terrible and you think he's better than anyone on the Lakers?

Have you ever watched an actual basketball game?

Wow, just wow. Yes, after all, I hear the Lakers are desperately looking for a guy who can't even make it through half a season. How unfortunate for them that the Sixers got him because those players are all the rage in the NBA.

I heard Lavar talk about Lonzo only working out for the Lakers in an interview yesterday. He was asked what would happen if the Celtics, despite not getting a workout with Lonzo, decided to draft him anyway?

The question seemed to confuse him for a second. Then he said that if a team was willing to draft Lonzo without working him out, he'd play for that team. He said Lonzo just wants be in the NBA.

Then he ranted some more about Lonzo playing for the Lakers and "speaking it into existence."

Umm, if you were talking about TODAY then you wouldn't have said "over the last 3 years".
I'm just glad we arent LA and grabbed 3 average players over the last 3 years.

By saying 'over the last 3 years', you have time framed a history, and it is a time frame since the Lakers have had a winning season. So I did the same for your Sixers in comparing as you did. Sorry if you don't like results since it's been at least a decade of sucking for Philly, but that's how you framed it, not I.

Now it's not exactly ironic that you have done exactly what you are accusing me of. That is cherry picking history that puts your team in a positive light over my team, but you've lied to do it. The Sixers haven't sucked since 1983, and you know it. They've been to the playoffs 13 times, and in that time, they lost in the Eastern Conference Finals, and lost in the NBA Finals. That's not exactly sucking, and as a matter of fact I included a Lakers NBA Finals loss when I compared the two franchises since the Sixers have had a winning season.

Just admit it, you were trying to take a jab at Lakers fans, and it backfired on you. If you are going to take jabs, learn to roll with the punches and take the jabs that come back, instead of crying & lying about it in response. It's a bad look brother, a bad look indeed.

 We all know 'this guy'. We've played in pick-up games with him at the gym or park, we have all worked with 'that guy' one time or another, you know, the trash talker with his mouth open all the time telling all who will listen about the granders of his life.

I kind of like the jawing back and forth, not too dissimilar to what we all do here from time to time, so I don't see why so many here have a problem with it. And for that much, the media too, they act like it's the worst thing to happen in sports when in fact they all can't get enough of Lavar.

I say, play on!
