Agreed. I'm just thankful the Lions weren't the worst team the year before.

Lol... I remember 2Cents rallying for Jamarcus Russell. Honestly, I don't believe it would've matter if Millen had the first overall pick instead of the second... he had a love for WR's.

I will go with Jamal Reynolds... #10 overall and was out of the NFL after 2 years.... 16 career tackles.

Can't go wrong with that choice either. The reason I went with Harrell is because Reynolds accrued three sacks and two forced fumbles in the 18 games he appeared in - at least something. Harrell had nothing except some tackles in the 14 games he appeared in.

I think Raiders own this thread, but every team team is littered with busts. It's the nature of the draft. Kind of hard to trump Jamarcus Russell, I don't even think Leaf does that and that was huge.

Russell was fine in his first season as a starter...77 QB Rating with the worst supporting cast in the league. He struggled because he didn't care and his situation sucked, but he had potential. Ryan Leaf didn't have any talent whatsoever.

They are monumentally different levels of bust.

lmao

dan mcgwire, all nearly 7 feet of him...back when QB's were supposed to be taller than lineman. weird premise.

you forgot kelly stouffer...6th overall by the cardinals, you guys got him in a trade after he pouted for a contract and sat out his rookie year.

technically, i think...counts for 2 teams.

I remember opposing defenses named Dan McGwire Big Bird .... Because he was so easy too hit.....

Mike Mamula was a bad pick but is not close to the worst Eagles pick. Mamula actually played OK for a few years, even if he was never worthy of his selection. Guys like Jon Harris or Danny Watkins easily top Mamula for worst Philly picks.

Yup....

author of that thread did as bad a job as those who picked the draft picks he describes. Watkins would easily be my choice as well.

Hell, most of the 2011 draft (the one that netted Danny Watkins) could be considered worse picks than Mamula - even for where they were picked; sole exeption of that draft being Kelce:

1st round) Danny Watkins - so interested in football that he apparently moonlighted as a firefighter during the season. Gone by 2013.

2nd round) Jaiqawn Jarret - cut after only one season.

3rd round) Curtish Marsh - cut after two seasons, despite the Eagles defensive backfield being a complete disaster.

4th round) Casey Matthews - Drafted as ILB despite being (in combine metrics) amongst the worst ever prospects. Him sticking around has as much to do with his ST play and (especially last season) the Eagles losing players projected above on the roster him by injury as his ability to play.

4th round) Alex Henery - Cut at after three seasons, losing to someone brought in just before the final pre-season game. Had a good rookie season, completely imploded afterwards.

5th round) Dion Lewis - rarely if ever played, and a complete failure as a KR (the reason why he was drafted in the first place).

5th round) Julian Vandervelde - Continuously on the roster bubble, and on-and-off the team. And seems to have needed injuries to stay on the team (and Watkins completely imploding) in order to make it that far.

6th round) Jason Kelce - a gem. In hindsight, how the Eagles were able to hit on this one is anybody's guess.

6th round) Brian Rolle - cut after one season

7th round) Greg Lloyd - Practice squad, briefly called up.

7th round) Stanly Havili - FB on a team where the coaching staff consistently refused to run the ball.

In other words, if not for injuries, of the 2011 draft, only one player would have been on the team by the start of the 2014 season. If not for ST play (Matthews) and complete awfulness of the competition (Henery), that would have been the case already for the 2013 season.

For Denver, Tommy Maddox in 1992 has to be the worst pick of the last 25 years. It didn't really make sense. Dan Reeves should have been escorted out of the building for making that pick.

Probably most Skins fans consider Heath Schuler in 1994 the worst pick

The Broncos I would say is spot on. No 1st round pick gave the Broncos less production that Jarvis Moss. He had one incredible game in college and that is about it and the Broncos used a 1st round pick off of just one game. He always did look good when the pads were not on but as soon as the pads went on the kid became just about worthless as a football player.

I don't know I'd say Willie Middlebrooks was the worst pick. At least Moss had a few sacks, Middlebrooks wasn't even good enough to play.

Aaron Curry, such raw potential, such athleticism .. Terrible instincts on the football field... And every draft expert said Curry was the most SURE draft pick in that draft at #4 ... Can't miss!!!! Uh huh sure...

When I think about bad picks the first one that comes to mind is Keith McCants (1990). The rest:
1991 - don't remember any of them. Wow.
1992 - traded our number one for Chris Chandler. Unbelievable.
2009 - Josh Freeman - man, I had hopes for him with the Bucs and elsewhere. How quickly they fall and how powerful rose colored glasses are.
Many other non-notables and wow, thought they had a good pick.

As bad as Moss was, I still think Tommy Maddox was a worse pick. At least Moss was selected at a position of need. Maddox was drafted in the middle of Elway's career, after the Broncos had just made it to the AFC Championship game. Not only that, they had a desperate need at wide receiver, and a great one was sitting there. But instead of taking Carl Pickens, they took a qb who would only start 4 games for them (going 0-4) and who threw more interceptions than touchdowns before they dumped him after two seasons.
