Yes, your starting center has yet to play.
Yes, you started the season with a tough West coast road trip.
But, c'mon man.
No team with a Wall and Beal back court should be this bad in the modern NBA.
And giving up 125 a game (30th best) speaks volumes to your effort.
Brooks, watcha doin?

Brooks may get fired soon IMO. They have a pretty easy stretch coming up so if they lose several more games in the next couple of weeks, I think he's gone

Wizards are an embarrassing, expensive mess.

Wall/Beale/Porter are underachieving assholes.

Said it at the end of last season; they need to blow it up (no, Grunfeld. Getting rid of Gortat doesn't count). The core unit of that team has reached is peak and now its just going to keep getting more toxic the longer it stays together. It's gonna be hard to get back equal value given the big contracts a lot of those guys have, but at this point, they probably shouldn't even worry about that. They should seriously consider going the Atlanta route, stripping the roster bare, and rebuilding.

This is what should happen.

But it won't.

They may trade 1 guy, win a few games and limp toward playoff contention. The Wizards have never tanked when they should have. Even when they have hit the top of the lottery it has been unintentional sucking brought on by previous bad roster decisions.

I am telling you, the goal for the Wizards throughout my entire lifetime has always been 40 wins or so. Always. It is the worst goal ever. It is also why I am always so hard on teams who refuse to rebuild when they should.

One Answer: Ernie Grunfeld

Has any other GM in history ever weaseled their way into such a long term position by doing everything in their power to keep a low profile and therefore avoid all blame and media focus??

He is like the dude from Office Space before they "Fixed the Glitch".

I am not even sure the Wizards are aware he has been their GM for FIFTEEN YEARS of mediocrity or worse...

Dude - where do you get this shit from? You apparently know everything about every freaking NBA player. When has Porter ever been accused of being an asshole? Ditto for the other guys. Wall does a lot of good things for the community & last I checked he bought Rolexes for all of his teammates last year. What an asshole!

Sure these guys and others may do things on the court & in the locker room that might piss off teammates or might be ill advised but portraying them as assholes is quite a stretch.

As I said in another thread the first move has to be firing Grunfeld! Otherwise everything else is a waste of time since he will follow up any moves w/ bad draft picks & bad trades.

As you know it goes beyond that. Even w/o tanking there are numerous moves the Wizards could have made & ones they should have avoided. Remember that article a while back where it basically stated that the Wizards could have drafted almost the entire Warriors roster (pre Durant)? That by itself is not that big of a deal but the players they drafted instead or the traded picks make it an embarrassment. Horrible European players, failed big men, long gone FAs, etc, etc.

Reference the attached link for some of their horrible history under Grunfeld. Mahinmi at $16M/yr - seriously? Trading a 1st for Bogdonovich & shipping him out after half a season - brilliant. Drafting yet another mediocre or worse 1st rounder or worse trading those picks - argh.

If they made the long overdue move of firing Grunfeld that would be a great start. From there perhaps they could semi-tank or just plan better. The current FO just appears to have no vision - time to move on to someone else.

I remember an old Norm McDonald joke when he was on SNL Weekend Update

"The Washington Bullets will be changing their name so they are no longer associated with violent crime ----- from now on, they will be known as just The Bullets".

that Bogdon trade was atrocious.

Mahimi signing was really bad too.

Porter was a nice draft pick at least- though it seems he is kind of out for himself which seems to be a theme in tht locker room.

I dont know why- the dude is getting PAAAAAAAAAAID.....i can see a guy that is up for a contract worrying about touches and shots but a guy that is locked in long term at crazy money should have the security nad wherewithal to play for the team.

Agreed.

But, I honestly can't remember the last regime that did have a vision.

Because the same mistakes and worse were repeated in the 20 years prior to Grunfield's arrival.

Fire Grunfield and everybody else associated with him and let's bring on sam Hinkie!
