"Chris Paul was outplayed by Deron Williams in a blowout loss to the Nets on Thursday, and being one of the game’s more fiery competitors, you knew he wasn’t going to let that happen again when facing John Wall and the Wizards in his team’s very next game.
The Clippers jumped on the Wizards early, and led by 23 points at the half on the way to an easy victory which ended the team’s seven-game road trip with a winning 4-3 record. Paul was not only the leader from an effort and energy standpoint, but his final statistical line was one for the ages.
Paul finished with 38 points and 12 assists on better than 78 percent shooting from the field. According to Basketball Reference, the only other player to match that since the 1985-86 season is Clyde Drexler, who achieved those numbers in a game played during the 1990 season.
Add in Paul’s five makes from three-point distance, and his numbers are unequaled by anyone in the last 28 years."
