ESPN's Adam Schefter reports LT Trent Williams' agent, Vincent Taylor, told the Redskins it's in the "best interest" to trade or release him.
"The relationship between the Redskins and Trent Williams has reached a point where it's in the best interest that the Redskins trade or release him," Taylor wrote in a statement to ESPN. The full release can be viewed in the link below. Washington has reportedly been shopping the 31-year-old left tackle ever since he requested $20 million annually, but the team's desired second-round pick in exchange has proven to be impossible to come by given Williams' demands. This situation is obviously one that isn't coming to a close any time soon. It remains unlikely Williams plays on his current deal no matter how this scenario shakes out.

I know he was a good player the last time he played football. But that was awhile ago & he has been out of football for a bit.
Would you be willing to sign him for 20 mil per year trusting he will be that same quality player coming back?

That’s tough. He was an elite LT and that’s such a prime position but 20 million for someone his age is a tough pill to swallow. What are the other top LTs making? A lot less?

The top tackle makes $18(that's Lane Johnson and he's a RT, the top LT makes $16.5) so $20 is high but not unreasonable given how the cap is always increasing and players keep getting massive boosts.

Great asset or at least was. But being gone from the game and the way linemen get rolled up, that's a lot of cabbage to throw at that position.

I wouldn't pay that for someone who didn't play last year so who knows what he really looks like. I think it was dumb for the redskins to not trade him im sure there was a team willing to give up a 2nd rounder or some kind of package and better to just move on from him and make him someone elses problem rather than drag this out.

Yeah...was elite...very good now...elite guys don't miss that many games year in, year out. Whitworth is older, he should be making more than him, but $20 mil per is not out there for him at this stage.

Not $20M but maybe like a 2 year deal worth $32-34M with it front loaded and a bunch of guaranteed money. I'm really not sure what he is specifically asking for just know the rumor of $20M. He isn't elite anymore but still a top tackle in this league for sure...we haven't seen him play for awhile so hard to gauge.

nope he wants to be the highest paid tackle by 2 million and mostly 4 million over all LT's, and is 32 and hasnt played in a while, nope......You can have a decent chunk 2 year deal, and like it. Or play a one year prove it deal, and get paid later

If I was a team in need of a LT I'd trade for him and offer a fair contract that was better then his present contract and dare him to start another wage war and all it entails because of it. Think he would come around without much protest myself.

id dare put some clauses in there about holding out and reporting to work........with immediate out's, will never happen with NFLPA and such, but should

Side note: its times like now, that all this "players need to maximize etc etc." that really make you think how insane it is that someone really is going down a rabbit hole battling for players who signed contracts and are holding out. How much do you think anthony fauci makes? im sure hes very very well compensated. Hes not paid like a football player. Base salary 384k. But we need to support these athletes who are "only" getting 13 million instead of 16 million per year, to play , a sport.

solder avgs 15.5
brown is oddly structured. He had a "base of 5 mill last year", base of 21 mill this year, 13.7 next year, 15 the next

tyron smith is roughly 13.5

So to me, Smith wouldn't rate more since he is frequently hurting.

Solder robbed the Giants.

Brown had his good year with NE and got his payday in Oakland that he probably wouldn't have gotten elsewhere.

I like Harold's plan, trade for hi, offer decent wages and dare him to sit. But you'd have to offer ballpark to those guys.

Most team won't, it's a over pay. However for a team with plenty of cap space, picks and plenty of talent, might be worth it to go for the gold. Really feel the Browns ( when will I learn ...right?) are a team that fits the bill.;)

With the new cba veteran players who hold out don’t benefit at all. The fines can’t be reduced and the season is not counted
