Some chatter on the cesspool this morning about adding Tanev to the Team Canada defense corps. Call me a homer (I've been called worse), but I don't think the defensive capabilities of Tanev outweigh the offensive contributions that a guy like TJ Brodie brings to the table (and TJ is a pretty good defensive defenseman as well).

Brodie, Gio, Pietrangelo, Seabrook, Burns, Letang, Subban, Barrie, Dougie, Ellis, Stone, Muzzin. Just a few of the names I'd consider before even thinking about Tanev. Fuck, probably throw Dion onto that list lol.

Don't get me wrong, I like Tanev. Like his story, there isn't much to dislike about his play. Good player.

But I would find it very, very difficult to believe anybody in charge of Team Canada likes him that much.

same ... hes steady and is a chip for the canucks d to build on ... Ben Hutton could be something extra special though imo

I think Hutton was a 5th round pick (checking on that, yup #147 in the 2012 entry draft). Canucks found a gem late in that draft, he's going to be the Canucks #1 defender in short order.
