Vlasic before Subban or Letang is...interesting. Vlasic is very good, of course. Just interesting.

Think you can argue that Jones, Eichel, Larkin and Saad would all be on Team USA. Only Canadian would probably be McDavid with Ekblad and Mackinnon being outside chances.

Bigger loss for USA no matter what, though.

Edit: and Gaudreau, of course.

Most analysts don't think either will be on the team. I think Sportsnet had Subban but TSN had Brodie, Pietrangelo and Seabrook rounding it out.

If it were me, I'd take Subban over Pietrangelo but otherwise I'm good with the choices they made.

Seabrook gets a lot of credit when he's a big time beneficiary of his D partner. Then again, his D partner is on the team, so. I'd take Burns, Subban, Letang before him or Pietrangelo. Brodie very deserving though. Canada has plenty of options.

They're following the Sochi model - a high-scoring d-man is more luxury than necessity given what they have up front.

I know it worked, but it was boring. PLEASE GO HIGH SCORING. I JUST WANT ENTERTAINMENT, THANKS.

No Kessel is USA hockey continuing their "we need a team, not the best players" idiocy (which I bought into, like a fool).

Is Phil getting a Honda?

Not yet, gotta wait for those pesky last choices. And then it's probably a lightly used Honda Fit which he can't even fit that six foot sandwich platter into.

Kesler is really the one I don't like seeing over Kessel. First off, Kessel was the best offensive threat in Sochi for the US. And you know what the US struggled with most? SCORING DAMN GOALS. Abdelkader is okay with me, not over Kessel, but I like him on the team. But seriously it's Sochi reasoning all over again. "Sure, sure, he can score goals. BUT WHO WILL KILL PENALTIES?!" Uh, figure it out. Pick the most talented players and go from there. This is how Bobby Ryan stayed home while freaking TRUCULENCE Dustin Brown, Ryan Callahan, and David Backes went to Sochi. It's a speed and talent game. Put the most talented players on the ice. It's not like preparing for a Stanley Cup run.
