Can you think of an example of team getting rid of a Pro Bowl QB and being a Super Bowl contender within a few years of getting rid of that player?
Sure, there are a few examples of it happening, but they are very rare.

Your point is a good one. To return to being a SB contender in the next few years, SEattle will have to find another PB-level QB in that time (essentially, nail their first try). That is VERY hard to do--some teams have been trying to do that for a decade or more.

They had already drafted Aaron Rodgers.
That wasn't a condition of your question. All you asked is if any team became a SB contender within a couple years of moving on from their Pro bowl QB. There actually are a few examples, but I get your point, it's very difficult to replace a stud QB in the NFL. That's why they get so much bloody money.

Of course they are rare. These types of QB seldom get traded. What other QB like the examples given has been traded?

60 passes over 3 season being a seldom used back up over those 3 seasons.

Yah but Rodgers could've been a 1st overall pick too. The talent was there and he had some early on injuries. It was just that the 49ers took Alex Smith and then literally nobody else needed a QB at the moment.

Not really a fan of the trade but assuming the Hawks must've felt Wilson was going to walk after this year and they might as well get something.

As for the picks. I can see it now. "With the 9th overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft, the Seattle Seahawks select <insert some late 2nd round prospect that could've slipped into the 3rd round that nobody has really heard of>"

word is the commies offered more but they turned it down, likely because Wilson said no.
Saw reports that the team wanted to trade RW out of conference which is why the Washington deal was turned down.

Which is also stupid. We aren't competing for a Super Bowl anytime and if you think that Wilson would be a threat to get to the Super Bowl then WHY ARE YOU TRADING HIM?

It's not a good trade. 1.09 is OK but the 2023 1st is going to much later and 2nd round picks are dart throws, the players are crap mostly. Do not approve of this trade at all. Did RW force this trade? IDK. One thing though our 2023 first will be a early pick because the Seahawks are going to lose a lot this season.
I think the Rodgers' deal forced their hand. The team didn't want to pay $50 million a year on an extension next year so they decided it was best to move on to a cheaper option.

Yea that was my reaction too. The Seahawks are going to be ass so it shouldn’t matter where he was traded to.

We weren’t going to a Super Bowl with Russ either, wasn’t happening, we have too many holes on this roster … If we kept Russ it’s just gonna slow down the rebuild process, he’s gonna make us good enough to possibly make the playoffs, maybe, but not good enough for a title run, so we’d keep spinning our wheels with late round draft picks every year and Russ just getting older… Now they’re talking about trading Lockett the rocket , it’s all rebuild time …

They might as well trade Lockett and Metcalf What is the point of keeping either of them? Metcalf is going to want to GTFO after this season anyway.

I've been wanting to get a Wilson white away jersey for a couple seasons now. Good news!! They just went on sale half price!!
They did ok, two seconds is like a first in value, so two firsts and two seconds is pretty dam good, plus players and a 5th right ?

I think the Rodgers deal was just coincidence. Wilson has 2 years left on his deal.

2nd largest cap hit in the history of the NFL, btw.

They might, just stalk up on draft picks… My guess is they keep Metcalf though, he’s such a freakish talent …

Chiefs and Alex smith? Rams and Goff? Philly won a super bowl with foles. Pats did ok this last year. 49ers post Kaep

We went from hasselbeck to wilson, the drama queens here act like we are going to be right back to the behring era.
Pete has 4 years left? The obvious plan is to rebuild for a run at the SB in 24 and 25

None of those guys were top tier QBs. Goff was a negative value QB when he was traded. Foles was a bad QB before and after a hot run with the Eagles. The Niners had some pretty terrible seasons.
