Huh???? It's been said a lot by LA fans over the years. You and I have spent enough time on NBA boards to read that numerous times how loyal he is and how staying with one team his whole career is total dedication.

Wanting traded because the team had a few down years is stupid. Yes, all players want to win the title every year but when there's 30+ teams in the league, it's not going to happen. It just showed that when times were tough (after ONLY a few seasons) he was ready to pack up and leave.

Just like Mick Jagger said years ago "You can't always get what you want"

I've seen a few of the more dedicated "Kobe fans" say it over and over. However, most Lakers fans have no such illusions. We know that Kobe's dedication and loyalty is to winning championships and the fact that the Lakers were willing and able to put the players around him to achieve that goal is why he is "dedicated and loyal" to the Lakers.

I couldn't disagree with you more re: wanting to be traded after a few down years. Professional athletes typically have short careers. Kobe being in the league for 17 years (so far) is an anomaly. Most careers don't come close to lasting that long. Additionally, the timeframe when a player is at his peak, is even shorter still.

Therefore, winning championships comes with a short window of opportunity. So for a player like Kobe, who considers any season that does not end in a championship to be a failure, it makes perfect sense that he would demand that something be done. Remember, Kobe was in his prime at that time and the Lakers were coming off of 3 seasons in which they didn't make the playoffs in one and had first round exits in 2. They were looking at a 4th season of basically more of the same (maybe a 2nd round exit in that 4th season), so Kobe let it be known that something needed to be done.

And Mick Jagger may have sung "you can't always get what you want", but guess what? Kobe got exactly what he wanted!!

yiiiikkkeeeesss, so THAT'S what you got out of that? and tell me how am I "rambling"? i gotta tell you, you DO think of switching gears rather quickly...

as far as the rest...

On July 8, 2010, ESPN aired a live special named The Decision that ran 75 minutes.[5][4] At 9:28 p.m EDT, James announced that he would play with the Heat in the 2010–11 season, teaming with Miami's other All-Star free agent signees Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.[6]
In this fall...this is very tough...in this fall I'm going to take my talents to South Beach and join the Miami Heat. I feel like it's going to give me the best opportunity to win and to win for multiple years, and not only just to win in the regular season or just to win five games in a row or three games in a row, I want to be able to win championships. And I feel like I can compete down there.[5][7]
—LeBron James
The announcement, which was not made until nearly 30 minutes into the program, was part of a conversation between James and Gray.[7] Broadcast from the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich, Connecticut, the show raised $2.5 million for the charity.[8] The show raised an additional $3.5 million from advertisement revenue which was donated to other various charities.[8]
Wade had informed Heat President Pat Riley that James wanted to become less of a scorer and more of a distributor, and James looked forward to no longer carrying the offense night after night as he did playing with Cleveland.[9] Riley sold to James that "LeBron would be Magic Johnson, Dwyane Wade would be Kobe Bryant, Chris would be Kevin Garnett." Relieved of the burden of scoring, James thought he could be the first player to average a triple-double in a season since Oscar Robertson.[9][10]
The Cavaliers were informed of James' decision minutes before the show began.[11]

Please stop already.
If he tells them sooner, it would have been leaked by Gilbert with 5 seconds to the world, thus ruining why ESPN paid for the decision to be announced on live TV.

That's an excuse?
That is FACT.
I'm sure ESPN would have been thrilled for the Decision to be publicly leaked before the show.

Please just tell me this is all an act from you.
Nobody could be this delusional.

You guys have missed a golden opportunity since Friday IMO.

Tweeting an Instagram of a police escort to a Jay Z concert?

I will agree with anyone , about anyone, that doing that is a dick move.

The other stuff, not even close.

How about what he has done just this month?
How about all of the bikes and computers he gave out at his annual Akron charity never?
How about all the new Nike uniforms for his old high school team?
How about the million dollar gym renovation for his old high school basketball team?

Seriously?!? This is a pretty :lame:defense of Lebron!! There are many reasons that NBA players do charitable things and most of them have nothing to do with them being good hearted and altruistic.

Among the reasons:

1.) The NBA's image: The NBA pretty much insists that ALL players get involved in charities. The NBA has a serious image problem. Many people consider the NBA to be a "thug league" with pre-determined outcomes. Players getting involved in charitable organizations helps repair some of that image problem.

2.) The Individual Players image: Want to be viewed as a "good guy" and open yourself up to myriad marketing opportunities? Need to repair your image because of something you did or said that made you look bad? Get involved in charity!!

3.) Money: Along with the above mentioned marketing opportunities, these players are in a tax bracket where they need tax write-offs!! Donations to charitable organizations and/or having your own charitable foundation is a great way to get those tax write-offs!!

Those are just a few of the "non-altruistic"reasons that these guys do these kinds of things!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that there is no altruistic intent on the part of the players, but you posting all of Lebron's "good works" like he the only player that gets involved in charities and that it somehow translates into him being a "good person" just makes you look gullible!!

Where did I ever imply that he was the only player to do anything?

What does the " good person" comment even mean?

Is he a "bad person" as CL would lead you to believe?

This really isn't that hard.
James, for WHATEVER reason, is a hero and role model to many children all over the world.
He, for WHATEVER reason, pours millions of dollars into those children as well as the city he grew up in.

Are you familiar with his 'I Promise' campaign?

He offers kids who to no fault of their own, are living in an area of little hope, all kinds of hope.

These are great things. Meaningful things. Important things.

The shit CL is harping on 3+ years after the fact is the opposite. It is unimportant and meaningless.

It's amazing how you can find fault with me pointing out some of the good things that James participates in for WHATEVER reason, but turn a blind eye and deaf ear to the total nonsense spewed by that illogical idiot, just because he has a Laker logo under his username.

It's embarrassing.

how 'bout the shit YOU'VE been harping for 3+ years that them and the Heat didn't pull any shenanigans and that EVERYBODY has to buy into it in YOUR view and dopey line of thinking/worship? too funny. trying singlehandedly to kill Heat hate. how's that working for you...?

and the LENGTHS you've gone to to get your idiotic point across. i agree, it IS embarrassing. you ought to be ashamed...

I'm just pointing out that it's a lame defense!! You are the only person I have ever seen use a players good deeds as a defense of them.

You know why? Because it's lame!!

Doing good deeds, donating to charities etc. are all good things!! However, that doesn't make the person doing them a good person!!

Aaron Hernandez donated $50,000 to one of Patriots owner Bob Kraft's late wife's favorite charities!! The fact that he was later arrested for murder doesn't change the fact that the money went to a good cause. But it also doesn't make Hernandez a good person!!

You post about Lebron's good deeds and act like it makes him a good person!! Again, I'm not saying he's not, but don't act like it's some indisputable fact!!

And here's a newsflash for you: Just because you think someone is an illogical idiot, doesn't make it so any more that you thinking Lebron is a good person make it so!!

And by the way, in you and CL's ongoing feud, only one of you posts in a way that makes it obvious they take this stuff personally and it ain't CL!!

That's twice now that you have brought " good person" into this, which is confusing, because when were those words used by me?

I said that James does a lot of good things, which far outweigh anything negative that he has ever done, let alone a Decision show from 3+ years ago.

Better yet, you are agreeing with it!

Perhaps you are preaching to the wrong choir?

You're boy would lead you to believe James is the anti-Christ.
Perhaps try to teach him the difference between importance vs nonsense.
Obviously I don't communicate well with pre-school mentality.
