Each team gets three time outs per half. The coaches are free to use them at any time.

Saban's quotes. Let me know where he says anything about "conditioning" or "being tired".

Oregon had 1 18 play drive 1 16 play drive, 1 15 play drive, and a couple of 13 play drives all season. everything else was less.
Texas A&m had 1 drive at 16 1 at 15 and a couple at 14.
seems like Saban doesnt know what he is talking about.

also if he sees his players walking around not getting set, thats on him. If I am playing a team that I know runs fast, I am getting myself ready for the next play asap

Wait!! What?!? You say you have no problem with the hurry up side of things, but the you say: "I just don't like people simply need to hurry back up to the line of scrimmage, call a play from the sideline rather than huddle as a means of the offense dictating what the defense is able to do"!! That's the very definition of a hurry up offense!!

And when a team is running the 2 minute drill or hurry up offense, it is dictating what the defense can do by speeding up the game!! The only difference is that some teams are choosing to use that offense for the entire game!!

The up-tempo offense is no different that any other offensive innovation from the forward pass, to the wishbone to the west coast offense!! Defenses will learn to adjust to it!! In fact, some already are!!

Stanford has had some success in stifling the up-tempo offense and so has the DC that USC just hired!!

I don't recall LSU having much problem with it either!!

Yet another person who doesn't understand the real benefit of the no huddle offense. I've explained this a bunch of times and I'm getting rather tired of having to explain it.

Alabama could run the same exact pace they have now, run no huddle the entire time, and the other teams defense would have no chance to substitute. You don't have to run hurry up to run no huddle and we seen this happen over and over last year as the team gets to the line then decides it wants to change formations and so on. All an offense has to do is go to the line after a play and that prevents the defense from substituting, no hurry up is required.

Alabama has not had trouble with a hurry up offense. And that's another thing I'm sick of hearing. We lose 1 single game to A&M, while beating multiple other hurry up offenses and suddenly that has to be the reason? Even though the overwhelming majority of the points came in the 1st period, somehow Alabama wasn't in shape? Stupid, get a clue.

Do you think maybe he was making a generalization about the number of plays, or are you just so desperate for a point that you need to act as if he was talking about a specific example in what he said?

Can't have a real discussion around here about this stuff, too many think you win a debate with stupidity.

So what you're whining about is that your players are specialists and are only good in certain downs or situations. That's too bad for you. Try gray shirting some more to find players that can step up in any situation

Nope, but thanks for proving my point that real topics can't be debated because people like you have to take every thing that is said to some extreme because the truth is you have no real interest in understanding the issue, just want to sling shit and take the position your team is on.

I absolutely understand it and I've seen you use this explanation before!! The problem you have with it (and I've explained this before) is that to run an offense the way you suggest it could be used, would be stupid because it would defeat the purpose of the up-tempo offense!!

The point of the up-tempo offense is to run more plays than a standard offense, thus creating more chances to score, tiring out the defense and not giving the defense time to figure out what the offense is doing and cause confusion!!

It seems that you don't understand the reason for the up-tempo offense!! Additionally, no one has said Alabama has trouble with an up-tempo offense, yet it's 'Bama fans on here doing the crying about it!!

You say you understand, and then you show that you don't. :L

Don't care about the up-tempo part, never have. Contrary to popular belief, it's not new, the Bills ran it in the 90's.

It seems that you don't understand the reason for the up-tempo offense!! Additionally, no one has said Alabama has trouble with an up-tempo offense, yet it's 'Bama fans on here doing the crying about it!!

Maybe the team I'm a fan of has nothing to do with it? Did you ever think to consider that? Of course not, because in the end the topic is more of a way for people to sling shit than anything.

Uh, no!! Not talking about the no-huddle offense. Talking about the up-tempo offense!! Don't try to put your lack of understanding the difference on me!! I understand perfectly well that a team could not huddle up, line up at the line of scrimmage and just wait to run a play thus preventing the defense from substituting!! What you don't understand is that the point of the up-tempo offense is about a lot more than just preventing the defense from substituting!! Of course, in your reply you left out the explanation of the point of that offense!!

So again, it is you who does not understand!!

Don't care about the up-tempo part, never have. Contrary to popular belief, it's not new, the Bills ran it in the 90's.

Gee, really? I guess you're the only one who ever heard of the K-Gun!! Oh wait......so have I!!

I've considered it, I just don't buy it!! Did you ever consider that?

Im sure he was making a generalized statement. the problem is its wrong. If he wants to back up his stance he should do it with actual facts and not false generalizations.

And LSU beat us in the regular season of 2011, omg it's almost as if sometimes teams lose.

But of course, you'll all ride on A&M's nuts because it's all you haters got.

Name the teams with an up tempo offense that Alabama has beat since Saban has been head coach.

Once you get past 0, let us all know. (And yes, that includes aTm from last year, because they don't play an up tempo offense. They just have a mobile QB.)

Pretty sure a wiry QB running around like a chicken with his head cut off had something to do with that and in between throwing passes in windows the size of peep holes! Don;t think it was the up tempo part. You would know that if you watched!

Are you trying to say they don't run that many plays? Two up tempo teeams with avg 80 plays = 160! And for the record on the number of plays, I have heard every coach of every NHHU offense say their goal is to run at least 80 plays a game including Chip Kelly so get your facts straight! Last year Oregon ran 82.8 plays a game and Alabama ran 66.6.

No Saban said when you have drives going 18 plays. this is different than running 80 plays a game. Oregon did not have more than the handful of drives that lasted that long.
