Why all the talk of 2 SEC teams in the playoff but none on 2 Big 10 teams?

But they ARE getting talked about having 2 teams in the CFP, both on ESPN and Fox. And the same commentators are saying Bama should NOT be in if they lose to LSU.

I get the critique on Bama’s schedule. What I don’t get is the “no respect” complaint when the B1G is getting plenty of it.

I have yet to hear them discuss it on espin or fox. But I’m not watching espin right now and fox has nfl on.

Well, when LSU has won 5 of the last 10 national titles, maybe someone will care what LSU fans feel about being slighted in the rankings.

Number 9 is going to be extra sweet.

Takes you Alabamians twice as long to get a degree huh?

Yeah, our schedule is always back loaded. Getting screwed over by the people that organize the Chik-Fil-A game hurt our SOS this year. But the H&Hs are coming and I’m looking forward to them

So much football left to be played. We are in the CFP right now.

Not sure why so many get their panties in a wad about early rankings.

Reasons

1) Their team is currently not in the Top 4
2) They are jealous of one or more teams in the Top 4
3) They have a personal hate for one or more teams in the Top 4
4) They're trolling

I think it’s fair to ask is the committee going to rank teams by their resume? Or are they going to go off name recognition and what that team has done in the past?

I expect a mixture of both but I do expect LSU and Ohio State to be 1 and 2 next Tuesday.

I think we've seen a little of both in the last 5 years, no?

My order of precedence...

1) Undefeated P5 is in.

2) Best loss of 1 loss P5 teams.
3) If 1 loss teams have similar loss, what has team done in the past.
4) Name recognition

I agree, somewhat.

But sometimes putting undefeated over 1 loss teams is what I may disagree with. Fortunately for the no drama folk we won’t have that this first ranking.

Yeah to clarify I'm not saying I'd have issue if the SEC gets 2. I just haven't heard any talk of the B10 getting 2 and I'd say theyve got just as strong of a case overall.

It really doesn't matter where an undefeated P5 is seeded in the 4 CFP teams.

Are you saying you'd consider leaving an undefeated P5 out of the CFP?

It’s an interesting question and one not many will agree with. But I’d more than consider putting a 1 loss team (likely from the SEC) over a team like Clemson which will have played almost nobody.

I know the committee will never do that as you can only control your schedule and your team but I’d more than consider it.

I wouldn't even consider it.

Especially the defending champ on a 23 game winning streak.

If I were a pollster, I think I would have Ohio State at #1.

But I would be nice and complimentary in my remarks to Clemson.

Dabo loves nothing more than to take some wannabe sports experts words and shove them down his throat.

Ask Cowherd what happens when you call Clemson a fraud.

Alabama and Clemson have both earned benefit of the doubt in these situations
Pretty much the truth...at least in the CFP era. Neither have laid an absolute egg in the CFP to date. (Unless one considers Bama's performance in the finals last year an egg.)

I would guarantee if Alabama played Penn State Bama would win something like 48-20....at worse
I agree Bama would probably beat Penn State...but I can't see the Vegas line being 28 in that game.

I would, especially if their SoS ends up somewhere in the 60’s meanwhile the 1 loss team has a top 10 SoS. Last year should have absolutely no bearing on this year. But ultimately I believe even I’d go with the undefeated P5 because they can only play the schedule in front of them.

I don't. They had to beat the Big Xii Champion with the Heisman Winner to get to the Final, and the team that beat them down is Clemson (with which they are alternating victories) and became the first Major team to go 15-0 with the win. So, no egg IMO - just a bad day at the office.
