I don't think that Watson was ever coming here regardless. They might be willing to invest in a QB that has baggage but I don't think they want the face of their franchise to have the same baggage as the previous one. At that point they would just be the punchline of endless jokes.
Yep. And seeing all the reports surfacing of how many times the team tried to trade Ben during 2009-2011... Seems like they weren't at all interested in standing behind Ben, regardless of his success under center. They were willing to part ways with a SB-winning QB for the likes of Alex Smith & Sam Bradford... That's pretty telling.

100%

They stood behind Ben because they couldn't get him out of their way lol.

Does anybody in here think the Steelers will draft a QB to compete with Trubisky and Rudolph? Personally I think Trubisky wins the job in camp

Its gonna depend whose there when they pick. If its willis or pickett, yeah theyre gonna the the qb also. As of now. Not much has been leaked on their feelings in trubs. But the way the contract is structured makes me think its a “well whats the worst that could happen” kinda deal.

Who's to say they both won't be there when we pick at #9? If both Pickett and Willis fall into our laps who do we take?

Think your taking willis. Wasnt he also rumored to be a favorite post combine of the seahawks?

I'm pretty sure he was yes but keep this in mind: Things change by the time the Draft comes around. Teams don't let it be known who they are going to draft ahead of time unless you're the Colts and you know without a shadow of a doubt you're taking a guy like Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck. Gonna be interesting to see what happens in this year's draft.

Trade for Mayfield if Watson ends up on the Browns.

Seems like the next logical option after Minshew and Garoppolo who I have heard or seen nothing about since free agency started yesterday

Minshew would be a good option also.....as well as the Colts.

He doesn't commit a lot of turnovers and would be a solid game manager type.

Not to mention all the love that went to Joe Burrow when he came out of LSU 2 seasons ago. The list goes on...

well the #1 pick is a bit different, thats a given most years. Theres no need to hide that. Well unless you are trying to trade, in which case you don't love the guy anyways. But I feel like there have been alot more well made connections between teams and players pre draft now a days. Even though the overall draft is erratic as can be.

good 4 u guys. Hope he proves it was always Nagy holding him down. I think he is a legit starter. Nagy blew. Mitch did a lot better then any QB under Nagy.
I have to admit, I dont share your enthusiasm. However, I hope you are correct.
