Julian's catch had a greater impact on the outcome of game than Julio's. If your personal determination of greatness is the situation and not the actual catch, then that's where our perspectives differ.

I'm basing my thread on the actual catch of Edelman... I threw in Jone's catches because I didn't want to take anything away from his amazing ones

Thinking about it it was a total team effort. Rookie Mitchell got some key yards when the Pats were on the ropes.

Like the one where he got the first down after slipping, getting back up and still hanging onto the ball

That's fair. It's your thread, you can do what you want with it.

That said, I would still maintain my perspective that Julian's catch wasn't even the greatest in this game, much less "Post Season History".

That's fair enough. That's why I started the thread to get opinions on said catch and to see what people thought and you did it... so i'm fine with what you said.

But I can also take solace in two Georgia Bulldog greats having a nice SB for the Pats in Malcolm Mitchell and David Andrews.

it's just incredible to me that belichick was able to look at film of some beady-eyed shrimpy quarterback out of kent state and say, "yep, lets target him in the seventh round, he'll be a great wide receiver for us"

Remember when Welker left and there was a "What is we gonna do?" from the Chets?

No problem...... They'd already seen an audition when Welker blew his knee out.

It wasn't even the best catch made last night. Don't get me wrong, he showed great concentration and it was a heads up play, but it was also just as much right place/right time.

Yep Mitchell and Brady are likely to have a couple nice seasons together before TB hangs them up. TB has a lot of trust in the young lad.

Ring - Edelman.....

All week I kept hearing how they were just going to let Jones quietly do his thing. And he did, and he didn't beat them, just like they said....

Oh, so the Pats D just let him make those catches when they were behind playing catch up huh ? Interesting theory to put it charitably.

No, they said all along they weren't going to stop him so just let him quietly do what he does. rmilia quoted all sorts of shit that said they were actually better when Julio was not a key contributor.

They picked their poison and tried to stop the other guys more.

That was one hell of concentration by Julian there!!!

However, Julio Jones made spectacular catch after spectacular catch last night as well

Julio's catch was more technically impressive per se because he had to reach out wide to grab the ball while also doing the toe tap to stay inbounds, but yeah, with what happened afterwards, Edelman's catch is the one that is historically significant.
