McCarthy is built for Shanahan style offenses. Those are extremely common any more. Several places he can land in the league that will set him up for success.

Daniels best throws go outside the hash marks. Less offenses the focus around his strengths, but still plenty out there.

If the Vikings trade up where both are available they should take McCarthy.

My take on the ranks

1. Williams

2. Maye

3. Daniels
4. McCarthy

And I hope Lions take Cam Rising next year, because if college taught us anything, it is that Caleb Williams can't beat Cam Rising.

As a legitimate starter? Hell no. As a way to shoe horn in Utahs domination of USC in the last few years? 100%

I usually “poo poo” most QB’s in a draft class. I feel like this class is going to be different. I could see 3-4 QB’s in this class being long time starters in the NFL.

I probably just jinxed the whole class with that statement though.

I'm going the opposite.

Williams sucked against any team that was good and is a little whiny bitch. Ryan Leaf 2.0.
Daniels is Justin Fields 2.0. Guy is still running a Core 2 Duo processor.
Maye I think can actually succeed.
McCarthy sadly is going to be thrown into being a starter when he 100% needs to sit for I'd argue almost 2 years, but you don't draft a QB in the top 5 to sit.
Nix is a clone of Manziel...
Penix could be decent, probably in all honesty the best shot because he'll be drafted last and into the 2nd/3rd round and likely sit.

I'm happy to eat crow if I'm wrong (as I always do on this forum).

Is 27/35 for 312 yards 3 tds, 0 ints and a rushing td bad now?

Is that Caleb Williams' stat line against one of the worst defenses in NCAAF and certainly the Pac-12? Sure seems like it... whatever.

you fooled DJ too

The only thing I will say is his holding the ball is concerning and his overall attitude is concerning.

He has the tools

If it was my pick I'd go Luck and Lawrence before him attempting to recall their position going into the draft

U said good teams. Did you not?

UW was a good offense, they were certainly not a good defense. Given the cupcake defense Williams had to go up against, he still couldn't muster a win.

As a Washington fan I was all over Drake Maye. I prefer a pocket passer because the team that wins the Super Bowl nearly always has a really good QB from the pocket. I watched his games and tried to convince myself but I have concluded that he does most everything well but nothing special. He gets caught in the pocket where the more athletic QBs escape that pressure and make plays. He has a slow delivery as well and his rushing yards came mostly in the open field, when he tries to turn the corner he does not have the speed to do it.

Then I watched Jayden Daniels and you can instantly see special, the ball comes out far more quickly. We have no idea if either will pan out but if you are going to take a swing take a big swing on someone who could be great. I don't believe Drake Maye will be great.

I think you are more likely to be right, as most QB draft classes aren't very good. I just feel like this class has a lot more potential than many other past classes. At least one of us is going to be right! :suds:

Good point, and agreed. If Seattle has Turner or Latu sitting at 16, pull the fuckin' trigger!

Almost a certainty that 4-5 QBs and 3 WRs are going top 15... for anyone that doesn't need those, hell yah! Some good OL talent is gonna slide too.
I think one or both will be there at 16. As you mentioned 4-5 QBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, 3-4 OL and 2-3 CBs are likely going before them. Maybe Turner is gone but a good chance. I think Verse from FL State goes before Latu. So could Byron Murphy from Texas.

Some teams picking 15-32 and even early 2nd round are going to get some steals.

I'm hoping NE trades back and gets either JJ McCarthy, Bo Nix or Pennix and fills the other holes with this stock of talent.
