the more Hooker says about Parsons effort to be great, nobody on this team is saying much of anything. Not good for a player that considers himself a leader.

stars don't have to be leaders, but they shouldn't refer to themselves as one if maximum effort isn't in play everyday.

I would go Lilly slightly over Manster but you would get no argument from me on either
I honestly would put Manster 1st, but have to admit I have a little bias since he is my favorite player. Also anytime I hear Lilly as the best I have no problem hearing that either. He was the 1st great Cowboy on this team.

So when someone tells me "Schmoop you are nuts. Lilly is the best D lineman." I say ok. (I can live with that) & move on. I mean. I am not gonna argue against Lilly.

Ever since I read Landry called Lilly the only perfect player he ever coached I’ve gone with him as #1. Who am I to argue with the man in the hat

Great thread. Very hard to compare. I'll say they nailed the top 3 and from there you can argue as you see fit. For me personally no way I have Haley at #4 on an All Time Cowboys list
Haley was awesome but you are 100% right.

Greg Ellis.
We all would have much rather had Randy Moss, but when you look at his career was a good D-lineman.

Me personally. Dont know if he counts because how long he was(nt) here. La'roi Glover.
The last time we had an all pro interior lineman, who we got rid of because Parcells wanted to switch from a top ranked Defense to the 3-4 defense. Dont think he ever got the love he deserved on this team.

It's crazy how deep the early 90's Cowboys DL was. Maryland, Casillas, Tolbert, Hennings, Hailey, Jones, Lett and Jeffcoat all on the 92 team. Just insane.

Remember when we just swapped in and out the whole DL of 4 guys every once in a while to keep them fresh? That was brutal for an Offense to have to deal with

Man if not for the onset of the salary cap(which Jerry helped usher in), without the senseless firing of Jimmy, and without the horrific moves by Jerry that followed(passing on R. Moss and then trading away 3 first round picks trying to find a lead WR and netting Roy Williams and Joey Galloway) this might have been a dynasty even the Patriots couldn't have matched.

The 92 and 93 teams were dominant. The depth was great everywhere. Never understood the BS surrounding Jimmy Smith. I remember watching him look awesome in pre season games . Smith had a great career . Him and Irvin would have done good things as a tandem.

Think about how ridiculous it could have been had we had a real GM. Either keep Smith or draft Randy Moss. Not only does either move make the offense sustain greatness for another 5-6 years, but it eliminates the future trades for Joey Galloway and Roy Williams, which means besides the great receivers, you basically add three first round picks that you traded away back to the club. Either one of those first two moves happen and the club wins 5-6 Super Bowls in that stretch instead of 3. Well, and to have a real coach, not Barry Seltzer or Chan Gailey lol

Yep. So many dumb things this franchise did at that time they wanted Smith to take a pay cut in 94 because he got sick with appendix in training camp 93 and almost died. Smith was dominant in pre season right before he got sick. He ran great routes and was a great receiver

Crazy thing is his appendix issues were very close to what I was dealing with around that time. I nearly died because they closed me up even though there was still infection.
